To have cried a bit

I've been having a rough time with PND recently. DS has reflux and DH works long hours blah blah blah.

We've always got each other a card and had a meal together around Valentine's Day but this year DH is working a long shift so it's just me and DS. There was a knock on the door just there and DH has sent me a lovely bunch of red roses. I cried a little when I opened them. He doesn't normally go to so much fuss (neither do I). I'm just so chuffed that he was so thoughtful.

Sounds like a nice DH you have there.... Sometimes even in hard times, a thought CAN make a difference, and he was obviously thinking of you.

How lovely! It's so bizarre that the things which make us happy also make us cry. Happy Valentine's Day to all Mumsnetters.

Showmeyourhero · 14/02/2020 15:59

How lovely, you deserve them OP and I would have had a little cry too Thanks

ladycarlotta · 14/02/2020 16:02

ooh that's lovely.

If it helps, OP, my daughter had the most horrific silent reflux. It shaped EVERYTHING. However, she's 11 months now and it's a distant memory - she's happy, affectionate, active, and healthy. I know it's shit but it's not forever. Just a hello from the other side!

Frenchw1fe · 14/02/2020 16:03

He sounds like a keeper. Enjoy your flowers.

HomeMadeMadness · 14/02/2020 16:05

Awww that's lovely OP!

Dollywilde · 14/02/2020 16:07

Oh he’s a sweetie. Enjoy your flowers.

This is what people mean when they say it’s the thought that counts Smile

JRUIN · 14/02/2020 16:10

Aww that's really sweet. I'm chuffed for you OP Smile

1Morewineplease · 14/02/2020 16:16

That’s so lovely!
Hope you and your baby feel better soon.

Babdoc · 14/02/2020 16:19

Op, that’s lovely. Depression can sometimes blunt your emotions to the point that you’re too numb to feel anything at all - you can just feel detached and spaced out.
The fact that the flowers made you cry is perhaps a good sign that you’re beginning to get back in touch with your emotions, and starting to recover. Whatever, it was a lovely thoughtful gesture by your DH and shows you that you’re valued and loved.
I hope you’re getting the support and/or medication you need, and that you’ll soon be feeling your old self again. God bless.

PumpkinP · 14/02/2020 16:27

Lovely! Nice to read something positive Smile

Igmum · 14/02/2020 16:27

That's lovely OP. Have a lovely (late) Valentines hug when you do see him 💐💐

billy1966 · 14/02/2020 16:31

That is so nice. Mind yourself OP, reflux is a dose but it does pass. Make sure you accept help from those you trust. Flowers

EssexGurl · 14/02/2020 16:33

That is so lovely. So often on MN we have LTB threads - so to read this was just so lovely.

My DS had colic and I had dreadful PND. It truly was awful. But DS is now a strapping 15 year old who is top of his class in so many subjects and truly the kindest, funniest person there is. I couldn’t envisage this point in the early dark days.

Your DH truly is a keeper, well done him!

AJPTaylor · 14/02/2020 16:34

How lovely x

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 14/02/2020 16:42

That's so lovely, OP. Flowers
PND absolutely kicked the shit out of me so I have every sympathy for you. You'll get through it, gradually the good days will start to outnumber the bad days and eventually it will seem like something that happened to someone else.

Willow2017 · 14/02/2020 16:48

Its great to read a thread with something positive now and again.
Its also such a great feeling when you are struggling and think nobody 'gets it' and they do something for you to show that they do and you are important to them. Your dp sounds lovely.

I had pnd first time around and it does get better, in fact its hard to remember how it made me feel now. (My boy is a strapping nearly 18yr old.)
Hope you feel better soon and the reflux settles pdq too.

Deadringer · 14/02/2020 16:50

That's lovely op, happy Valentine's day. Flowers

Enchiladas · 14/02/2020 16:54

Aww that's so nice Flowers

Grandmi · 14/02/2020 17:04

Aah that was such a lovely post to read 💐

FlaskMaster · 14/02/2020 17:09

Oh that's so lovely to read, I was getting ready for a really awful ending with the crying and he's working a long shift on valentine's day, but it was a happy one at last, yay. He's restoring Mumsnet's faith in mankind!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 14/02/2020 17:12

what a keeper he is! Happy Valentine's day to you and hope your LO gets over the reflux soon Flowers

Flufferbum · 14/02/2020 17:13

Aw OP ❤️

81Byerley · 14/02/2020 17:17

Now THAT is romantic!

amazedmummy · 14/02/2020 17:38

He really is a keeper. @MinisterforCheekyFuckery and @Willow2017 I really hope so, DS is only 12 weeks and I'm right in the thick of it. Some days are better than others.
