What time do you wake up in the morning?

What time do you wake up in the morning and do you get enough sleep? I feel permanently shattered getting up at 6am for work no matter what time I go to bed the night before. If I get the chance to sleep in later then I always feel a million times better even if I’ve had the same amount of sleep. Hating the dark mornings!

I’m asleep by 10.30 at the latest, weekdays. Wake anywhere between 5 & 6.

Same waking time at weekends even if I go to bed at 2am drunk!

So annoying.

FloofenHoofen · 14/02/2020 10:21

I have insomnia so sometimes I won't get to sleep until 2am and then wake up at around 7am. Or if I'm having a good tired day I might actually go bed at 9pm and wake up at 6am.

WhatHaveIFound · 14/02/2020 10:24

Weekdays we have to get up at 6.30am so i'm lucky if i get 6½ hours sleep.

I was really looking forward to the start of half term tomorrow but DD has a 7am train so it means a 6.15am wake up!

Caramel78 · 14/02/2020 16:27

I’m currently anemic and feel like I could sleep for 15 hours and still be exhausted. I definitely feel better when I can wake up a bit later in the morning though

I have had a single night of unbroken sleep in two years and three months (the age of my third child)
He has never slept a night through and he will not sleep in a toddler bed or a cot bed so has to be in with me
Until recently she as never asked before 11pm and wakes at least three times a night then wide awake from about 4.30 - 5.30
I have to get up at 6am for school run to get all four of us out on time

The last two years have shattered my physical and mental health in every way and I feel on the verge of collapse most days it is awful

My app tells me I average 3 hours of broken sleep a night it has been less than that though

DameHannahRelf · 14/02/2020 16:40

About 7.45, go to bed at about 10 or 11 these days, rarely after midnight except at the weekend. Sundays I sleep in, if I can (no dc).

Inextremis · 14/02/2020 16:50

After many years of being a slave to the alarm and waking up at 7 every day, despite many disturbed nights, I now no longer have to work and have discovered that my ideal sleep pattern is 2.30 am - 10 am or thereabouts. It is pure heaven! It seems I'm not one of those who need less sleep as they age - I manage to fit an afternoon doze in on some days too. Loving it!

Enchiladas · 14/02/2020 16:53

Whenever my baby wakes up for the day (as opposed to his regular waking for no reason in the night!) and these days that's anywhere between 5-30am (he tries it at 0430 sometimes too Sad )

MinnieMountain · 14/02/2020 16:55

5:50-6:20. We set the alarm for 6:30 and I'm rarely woken up by it.

DH and DS are away for a week, so it will be interesting to see what time I wake up when left to my own devices. I'd need to be up by 8am on work days.

Nowayorhighway · 14/02/2020 16:55

6am on a work day, 7am on a non work day, 8:30am at the weekend. I teach PT but also have children in school so don’t get a lie-in on my days off due to school run. I also feel tired all of the time fwiw. I thought it might be low iron but it was tested recently and is fine...

Dipi79 · 14/02/2020 16:57

04:30/05:00 without fail every flipping morning. 😊

Bluewavescrashing · 14/02/2020 17:03

I go to bed at 9pm and wake at 6.45 when my alarm goes off. I've always needed a lot of sleep and am recovering from M.E so rest in the evenings too.

nokidshere · 14/02/2020 17:05

I struggle to get to sleep whatever time I actually go to bed. I fall asleep around 3am and wake between 8&9 am now I don't have to get up for school/work.

QuestionableMouse · 14/02/2020 17:06

I work shifts so it really depends. Got up at ten today but I didn't get to sleep until after 1am.

SheChoseDown · 14/02/2020 17:06

4 am. I get between 4 and 5 hours. You get used to it

ADJ1151 · 14/02/2020 17:18

Around 5.30-6am. My body clock always wakes me up at this time even on weekends but twice this week I slept til 7am!! I don’t set an alarm as my body is usually pretty good at waking me up but twice this week it was 7am before I woke and I felt like the whole morning was a rush because I had less time to get myself ready!

Mintjulia · 14/02/2020 17:19

My alarm goes at 6.20, & again at 6.30.

I make breakfast for ds & get him up at 6.45. He eats & I have a coffee, then he gets dressed while I shower & dress. I make his snack, sort our bags, and scrape the windscreen, then chase him up. In the car by 7.30, collect his class mate at 7.35, drop them at the bus at 7.50.

In work 8.15 -5pm, then collect ds, and home by 6. Get him started on homework, cook, eat, maybe an hour watching TV, then sleep.

It feels a bit relentless at the moment, but I get enough sleep. I definitely don't have time for a partner though. Unless someone rich is passing and wants to come and help Grin

AnnaMariaDreams · 14/02/2020 17:21

6.30, asleep by 10 and still always shattered.

85notout · 14/02/2020 17:23

About 10pm-7.30am in bed but I probably sleep from midnight-6am on and off. Sometimes I get enough sleep but not always.

chesterfuckingdrorrs · 14/02/2020 17:29

I work shifts so have no set wake up time. I feel pretty well rested if i get 8hrs sleep, rarely happens though. In reality I average 5hrs a night and feel permanently tired.

I definitely feel better if I wake up myself without an alarm no matter what time that may be. lighter mornings make a massive difference but are a pain trying to sleep between nights

Yellredder · 14/02/2020 17:41

Weekdays it's 6.30am, having usually fallen asleep at about 10.30. This is not enough sleep for me - particularly as I wake up about half a dozen times a night.

Weekends I'll have the same bed time, but will wake up at anytime between 8 and 9am. Which is more doable for me.

ChristmasFluff · 14/02/2020 18:02

Between 5 and 6.15. If I wake up after 4am on days I'm going to work (have to be up at 5 then), I'll usually get up anyway, as I feel worse if I drop back to sleep at that point.

I go to bed at about 9 and read until I fall asleep. I regularly have insomnia, but very rarely feel tired. I guess I don't need much sleep.

I sleep in til about 7.30/8ish on a weekend if I've been out late, but then I'm up - even if I didn't get to bed til the small hours.

I do prefer the lighter mornings though, and sitting out listening to the dawn chorus. Although sitting cosy in the dark has its own charm.

Catapillarsruletheworld · 14/02/2020 18:10

My alarm goes off at 6.30, but I snooze until about 7.15, giving me 45 to get ready and leave the house. DP and dd2 normally get up earlier, DP leave when I get up. He’s better at morning than me, but normally goes to sleep earlier. Dd1 gets up the same time as me.

Chocolateandamaretto · 14/02/2020 18:13

About 5am, usually, because I have to get up then if I want to fit in a run so I have conditioned my body by habit to get up then. If I’m not going for a run I just read or chat with DH until 6ish though.

OneOfManyDays · 14/02/2020 18:17

Up at 5:20 weekdays for work. 7am at weekends as DD wakes up then.
