To use a buggy for a three year old?

I have had a few comments though he does look about five.

The weather is shite and I don't drive.

Should I persevere with getting him to walk everywhere? Any longer than 20 mins and he wants a carry. I do have a back carry sling but that seems to incite looks of horror too.

All my friends drive so don't have this problem.

What do other people do?

Absolutely fine. He can walk when he has the energy for it and rest when he's tired - and you can also use the buggy to carry stuff. Perfect.

Rubychard I can only speak for myself but the people who say it are drivers so no their child never did get in the buggy again because they were being driven around all day instead. So very minimal walking.

I still use for my 3 year old too, no plans to get rid until maybe the summer. Mine is small for her age so no one even comments. I do think the size they look affects the comments you get but either way they are still only 3 and likely to get tired at times

I think you should use the buggy if you want. But these comment about people with cars not having a clue is ridiculous. My kids went from a sling to walking and we have never owned a buggy and I don't drive. Nothing wrong with using a buggy either, but loads of three year olds walk places and aren't always in a car or buggy. Whatever works for your family is fine.

The point is no one should be judging a 3 year old for using a buggy which trust me they do! Yes plenty walk, but people shouldn’t be judged for it as the same people don’t judge a child in a car.

My 3 year old is still in a pushchair. We'd be late for everything if he wasn't. If we're going out for a leisurely walk then we won't take the pushchair, but that's only if my DH is with us so he can carry him if/when 3 year old gets tired.
The people judging you are dicks imo, and clearly don't have a lot going on in their lives if they have the brain space to even notice the age of a child in a pushchair, let alone think so much on it they feel the need to comment.
Just ignore them and carry on.

I love the pram / pushchair I’ve got it wasn’t too cheap and I’ll use it as long as we (mother and son) find it useful !

Do what you want OP I thought they were used when the parent needed

Damn, I wish I could get pushed about in one ! Grin

My children stayed in their buggy until at least 4 for shopping trip or anywhere involving along walk or danger. It made my life so much easier!
