because of coronavirus? We are in London btw.

OP posts:
BirdieFriendBadge · 12/02/2020 21:41

I'll come up with any excuse going to avoid some soft plays.

But I'd say Coronavirus is a step too far!

CeibaTree · 12/02/2020 22:12

I would totally leap on it as an excuse to get out of going to a soft play place!

Teacup34 · 12/02/2020 22:18

Right that's going to be my excuse this wknd when the kids ask 🤣

midwestspring · 12/02/2020 22:19

Given it is soft play I would be sooo tempted.
But in terms of risk, no.

WinterCat · 12/02/2020 22:20

Soft play has to be one of the most virus and germ riddled places on the planet. I doubt any new viruses get a look in!

tunnocksreturns2019 · 12/02/2020 22:21

I’d cancel soft play plans for literally any reason.

ShyTown · 12/02/2020 22:22

Yes because any excuse not to go to the hell that is soft play. But no I wouldn’t be worried specifically about the coronavirus!

madeyemoodysmum · 12/02/2020 22:23

No need to stop normal activity at present.

MadamePewter · 12/02/2020 22:28

Believe me, I hated soft play... actually, ok, perfectly reasonable

BigPinkFlower · 12/02/2020 22:47

I would buy a bubble for my child and keep them in it at all times.

IDoNotHaveABlackCat · 12/02/2020 23:45

I would think coronavirus is the least scary thing in those ballpits.

LiquoricePickle · 12/02/2020 23:45

Yes, but that's because I'm on lockdown in China. But if I were in London, then no.

TheBigFatMermaid · 12/02/2020 23:47

I think if you regularly go to soft play, you have proved yourself to be risk averse and in no way a germaphobe!

Go as normal.

Emmelina · 12/02/2020 23:52

Oh definitely. Softplay is hell on Earth, so any excuse! And I’m pretty sure the Softplay Superflu trumps Coronavirus any day Wink

Samhradh · 12/02/2020 23:56

Any excuse not to go to soft play. Like it being Tuesday, or a full moon, or a month with an ‘r’ in it.

YourWinter · 13/02/2020 00:07

Soft play areas are plastered in saliva and snot and the bodily fluids of small children. Utterly revolting all the time, not just when a new virus is doing the rounds. Get the kids out to play in fresh air instead!

Aureum · 13/02/2020 00:16

You can catch lots of things at soft play. My DC caught norovirus and ended up in A&E. Under the current circumstances I’d avoid it, it’s a breeding ground for germs.

SpokeTooSoon · 13/02/2020 00:17

On a serious note (although I am enjoying the posts) OP, you really should just carry on as before. Hand washing with soap and warm water is the best thing any of us can do. And possibly avoiding contact with anyone who’s recently returned from China - only because we don’t yet know to what extent the Chinese may have lied about it all.

InkogKneeToe · 13/02/2020 00:20

Corona virus is the least of your worries in those festering cesspits of disease!

mamma536 · 13/02/2020 00:49

No. We're in a smaller country affected with more cases than the UK. Many parents are panicking and keeping their children at home completely, leaving tourist sites and soft play centres quieter/empty for the rest of us.

Also there have been quite a few news articles (nytimes) that suggest the virus is mild for kids.

This could go on for months. Life has to go on.
