Stained Hotel sheets

gabsdot45 · 12/02/2020 15:07

DD 12 and I are away on a short break and are staying in a hotel.
Before we left Dd started her period so I brought extra pants, pads and an incontinence pad for the bed.
Unfortunately, despite all the precautions she stained the sheet quite badly. Should I say something to the hotel and apologise.
Also I need recommendations for sanpro. She was using a super absorbant, long, one last night.

I worked in a hotel doing rooms and bar and this happens all the time, we had some fab stain remover!

It didn't bother me, just take the sheet off and put it in the bath so it's obvious and the cleaner doesn't touch the stain by accident.

It was more annoying when people spilt make up, tea coffee etc on the sheets and left them all scrunched up so the whole bed gets covered in it!

Also they are incredibly cheap at wholesale, so when we did have to throw them out it wasn't a big deal

Tell the reception - they will have dealt with this before. When DS wet the bed at 2am the night receptionist was so helpful. Got us a complete bed change and offered to help us remake the bed.

They will deal with similar all the time jjust tell them at reception and they can tell the cleaner. Or stri the shett back andleave a note for cleaner (or try to catch the cleaner in the corridor and explain)It's not a big deal.

As for the leaking problem - I think the problem is at night you move about a lot (is your DD a restless sleeper?) so the pad shifts out of place (also as she has only just started her flow might be a bit inconsistantly heavy/light). I found two pairs of pants, a slightly tighter fitting pair underneath, and a fuller pair of 'big pants' on top. It helps hold everything in place. Failing that (i had heavy periods as a child) one pad on top of another to make a double layer can work - but is a obviously more bulky so she may find it a bit uncomfortable.

'strip the sheet back' - typos sorry !

Thanks everyone.

Re sanpro: Period pants are good. The heavy absorbency ones especially. They don’t shift at night either. DD (12) swears by them for day and night use.

I wouldn't mention it as imagine she might be a bit embarrassed about the whole thing already. Strip sheet and leave in sink is a good idea. If it makes you feel better, leave a tip for housekeeping.

Strip and leave in the bath / sink. They will be used to it but I'd also let reception know.

Period pants look fab, I wish they had been around when I was a teen.

I’ve always been really heavy, my dr gave me Tranexamic acid a few years ago and it has been a game changer - I wish some had suggested it before!
