Yeah but Singapore is a brutal repressive and backward society @IceniSky so I’d take the smell of chilli over not being allowed to think what I want and live in fear

NumbersStation · 11/02/2020 22:37

I was sat on a little bus with someone hamming into a sweet and sour. It honked.

The woman I’m front of me popped off half a can of neutrodol from her shopping in protest.

I would ban hot food on public transport - and air freshener Grin

WorraLiberty · 11/02/2020 22:41

Food does stink a bit on public transport but then again, so do a lot of people.

It's something you have to get used to.

BathshebaAndGabriel · 11/02/2020 22:41

IceniSky
Because Singapore is somewhere we should aspire to?
Wow.

BathshebaAndGabriel · 11/02/2020 22:43

I suspect he was, you know, hungry.

Maybe he lives on public transport and you were actually sitting in his dining room.

Teaandcrisps · 11/02/2020 22:46

Dont mind the smell of food on public transport - its nail varnish I cant stand. Why do people do that?*!

georgialondon · 11/02/2020 23:07

Woman opposite me on the tube was plucking her eyebrows and chin.. nasty piece of work.

IceniSky · 12/02/2020 07:43

When it comes to tube travel? Yes indeed. They have some good ideas. Not sure I mentioned not being allowed to not think or voice your view and how we also need to oppress our citizens? Bit of a leap there! I guess you have a career in journalism!

vikkimoog · 12/02/2020 08:12

MN is so weird. \i don't know anyone in real life who is offended by the smell of food (you know, the stuff we all eat numerous times every day of our lives)

Fleetheart · 12/02/2020 08:18

Completely with you OP, bad manners to eat on tube in my book. It’s a) stinky and b) the fact that you are generally sitting facing people. I understand there a thousand reasons why people may be very hungry but Not On The Tube!

Fleetheart · 12/02/2020 08:20

Whether we want to live in Singapore or not, you can’t deny that a lot of their public rules are helpful- is no chewing gum, no back packs on the tube and offering seats. It would be nice if people here had that consideration for others without the need for rules.

crispysausagerolls · 12/02/2020 08:22

People have no shame and are increasingly using public transport as an extension of their home to save time. It’s awful! I know I’m in the minority but I don’t particularly want to see a woman doing her make up either on the train, just as I wouldn’t like to see a man shaving!
