Worried about driving in 70mph winds tomorrow

For a family party.

It's only 10 minutes away.

But I get irrationally worried about strong wind. (We need to drive down some windy woodland roads)

I'm being precious - yeah? It'll be fine?

Yeah it’ll be okay! Just take it slow Smile have a great time!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/02/2020 20:00

It’ll be fine, it’s 10 mins.

Woodland roads better than open motorways, enjoy

We have a 1.5 hour journey tomorrow...

BirdieFriendBadge · 08/02/2020 20:04

Thanks guys. Definitely won't be near a motorway.

Not looking forward to it either

Mumdiva99 · 08/02/2020 20:05

I might not. 50mph maybe. 70mph probably not. Also there could be all sorts of branches in the road etc. But sometimes these storms blow over much more quickly than predicted.

Ninjasan · 08/02/2020 23:04

I'm really scared of driving tomorrow. Up to an hour on a motorway. Back roads are even more dangerous as there might be some tree branches on the road. I already know that my SIL will not speak to me again if I don't turn up to a family celebration....

Elieza · 08/02/2020 23:31

It’s falling trees that kill. I am well scared of that. I used to go out on country roads before 7am to feed my horse and sometimes the road was totally blocked by a fallen tree and that was that. I drove with the radio off so I could hear the creaking if one was about to fall on my car, but the reality is I probably wouldnt hear anything over the wind roaring!

I'm sure you'll be just fine OP, but would your family not understand if you decided not to go?

I would see how it is tomorrow and take it from there.

Today weather people are saying " Essential travel only"

Lactarius · 08/02/2020 23:39

Don't drive - go by bike it'll be more exciting (*)
