Or just batshit to believe in numerology?

Any experiences?
I regularly see repetition in Number at times of great change in my life. Those wishes that I privately have will often come true even if those wishes seem batshit and those wishes change my life irrevocably ?
It's like I imagine my future and would wish for change and then it comes along after months of great stress but I'd always as I imagined it would be and would be for the best
Does that sound nuts to you?

I think when things like this come up, many people will say it’s batshit so authoritatively, and in such sneering fashion, but ultimately that’s just their belief, and you are entitled to yours.

We know an awful lot about how the world works. Mobile phones, electricity, cars, radiotherapy, vaccines etc didn't happen because 'that's just someone's belief'.

If you don't have the skills to understand how the numerologist was conning you, that's fine; but don't imagine that your level is all humans are capable of.

Lots of people do understand the world well enough to identify obvious bollocks. It's not that hard to learn how.

They were desires to escape misery and unhappiness

They always are. Nobody thinks the universe is talking to them in numbers without having some serious vulnerabilities at that time.

🤷‍♀️ My mum sees the time 11:11 all the time. She's been mentioning it for years now. It happens several times a week.

I get the same thing. Often around late morning and just before bedtime. That can't be coincidence.

aroundtheworldyet · 05/02/2020 22:33

I see it too.
I bet we see hundreds of the same combinations
This one just sticks in our minds.
I mean there are only so many combinations you see on clocks etc

aroundtheworldyet · 05/02/2020 22:34

@donquixotedelamancha
Grin 🧐🤣🤣🙃

Merename · 05/02/2020 22:38

Thats a good example of the sneering I was talking about, donquixote. I’m hoping that the OP doesn’t allow the tone like yours to make her feel small. No problem at all with you disagreeing with me; in fact I would expect it from the majority, but I think it’s a shame you seem to think it’s ok to speak to people unkindly because you have a different view.

ScarlettBlaize · 05/02/2020 22:39

"Am I being unreasonable or batshit?"

Por que no los dos?

SentimentalKiller · 05/02/2020 22:43

We see loads of things every day but you are noting some because you have decided they are meaningful
It's like when you decide to buy a particular car. Suddenly you see them everywhere. They were there before just not meaningful to you

logfireaddict · 05/02/2020 22:45

Ok thanks

It’s a bit like homoeopathy.

Child has fever. Parent gives Homoeopathic ‘medicine’ (i.e. sugar pill), fever comes down.

The fever would have come down anyway (sugar pills do nothing) but parent believes their action made it happen, thus believing Homoeopathy can bring down fevers (it can’t).

It’s confirmation bias. Comforting maybe, but not cause and effect.

donquixotedelamancha · 05/02/2020 22:47

I think it’s a shame you seem to think it’s ok to speak to people unkindly because you have a different view.

I don't think that was unkind or sneering. Tone is hard to read in text.

I am very pleased that others understand the world better than me- not least for all the cool stuff they invent.

It could give you hope that there are ways to improve your critical thinking skills. You might wish to try to stretch yourself so you can understand how numerology is known (not believed) to be false.

If you choose, instead, to feel small and imagine that others are in some way bothered by your 'belief' (as opposed to merely having more information and thus disagreeing), then you are seeing something which is not in my post.

Quantum mechanics is accepted science - and it's more batshit crazy than a colony of bats in an insane asylum. 🦇🦇🦇

levelone · 05/02/2020 23:06

Not batshit!
I have seen 11:11am most days (95%) since I was 18, I'm now 33! It's something I can't explain. I don't have the same routine everyday but I'll still look at a clock at 11:11. I believe there's something to it all, I'm yet to have that awakening you read about.

TriangularRatbag · 05/02/2020 23:10

Total drivel. It's 70% to do with the power of crystals and 30% Jesus. Alleluia.

dontgobaconmyheart · 05/02/2020 23:10

Fair play to you OP. If you are interested in numerology it's probably better to google and see what you make of it. A lot of it is nonsense designed to appeal to the vulnerable, some of it has basis in 'numerology'. I would also make a point of reading the arguments that discuss it as claptrap too though or there is not much point.

I knew it would be the number 11 before you said, it always is when people say this- or numbers that look fairly similar. The trouble with that is, once you start thinking something is 'a thing' you are primed to notice it subconsciously, and so do. We are also bound to see combinations of numbers in times and dates- think how few numbers there are for that purpose, of course combinations will be popping up on a loop.

Ultimately if you have spiritualist leanings or want to believe it then that is up to you, so long as it isn't harming you or something that is taken too seriously.

logfireaddict · 05/02/2020 23:20

Thanks. Coming away from this I do feel a bit mad. My husband had checked out, I knew it deep Down, I felt that there were changes coming, there did. He left . He was in a relationship. I was so unhappy up to that point that I almost wished he would leave. He did . I had wished that I could bring up my children on my own without fear of criticism or t aggression but I hadn't the courage to do it. The decision was made for me . This was at the time I saw all of these bloody numbers. I tried to be bury then and call them
Coincidence. I was just wondering . Thank all.

I don't have the same routine everyday but I'll still look at a clock at 11:11

Have you ever set an alarm, then woken up a few minutes before it? Or had a dog who goes out for a walk at seven o'clock, and at 6.59 goes and stands by the door ?

Your body has a pretty good sense of the passage of time, and all you have done is trained your body to look at a clock at 11.11. Every time you do this, you reinforce the behaviour. It's not 100 % of the time, but the times you're bang on feel significant (and I bet that if its 11.10 when you look, you make sure to look back a minute later to get that confirmation).

If course, it's possible that there's some deeper, mystical reasoning behind it, but there is a perfectly mundane explanation as well.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 06/02/2020 12:29

@donquixotedelamancha did you come on this thread just to make yourself feel superior?

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 06/02/2020 12:31

@aroundtheworldyet

You must be easily amused. Just surfing through threads to find sarcastic posters let them know how funny you find then. Nothing worse than brown nosing.

Why would a joke make someone feel superior? What precisely do you get from @ing people with unpleasent messages because you don't like a particular style of humour?

PineappleDanish · 06/02/2020 17:23

I think you need to read up on confirmation bias.

opticaldelusion · 06/02/2020 17:36

The universe can't count.

I love the insistence that things always happen.in threes. If course they do. If you start counting at the first event then stop after the third... Sigh.

Woollycardi · 06/02/2020 17:37

It doesn't matter the slightest what any of us think, it doesn't matter if you think it's 'batshit', but the whole period of time sounds significantly painful and I wish you all the best for your future without your husband. It's sounds like you are far better off without him.

opticaldelusion · 06/02/2020 17:38

I'm yet to have that awakening that you read about

It will definitely happen at 11.11.
