If I quit my job what benefits will I be entitled to?

I have been signed off for the past 3 weeks as have had my 8th miscarriage, due to go back tomorrow.

I have a long history of mental health, depression and anxiety, also PTSD.

I don't feel I am able to work right now but we cannot survive on no income from me.

Am I being unfair to take 6 months - 1 year off to sort myself out mentally and return to work when I am able to?

I've worked since I was 15 and this makes me feel very ashamed to feel I cannot cope with any work right now, I don't know the first thing about benefits or what I'd be entitled to or how much roughly I would receive.

Any advice would be great xx

Don't quit - you won't get anything. Sick leave and then await eventual dismissal (and then claim benefits)

Another vote for getting in touch with Payplan, we paid off a huge debt with them, one that would make your hair curl. They were great and it was a huge relief when we handed over the management of the whole thing to them. Get your debts reduced and manageable, and then you have more choices. They are free for you to access.

we are paying a lot of debt off which leaves us in the minus each month.

Look into sorting out the debt with your creditors - talk to the Money Advisory service or StepChange or similar. Get your payments sorted so you're not going into the red each month.

So sorry for your losses.

What I found excellent about Payplan was they get you to change to a simple back account. e.g. one with no overdraft or charges. This immediately means you are not 'in the red' with an overdraft or getting fines etc

I had one years ago after getting ill (with MH) and graduate debt. It really helped and years later am debt free. I can't recommend them highly enough, they are non judgemental and helpful.

Also my credit rating is really good now. It does affect it for 6 years but not forever.

Thank you so much everyone.

I have been signed off again and have contacted PayPlan just waiting for them to get back to me x
