To be pissed off with selfies in changing room

Dylaninthemovies1 · 02/02/2020 16:21

Communal changing room in pool of a big hotel.

Very little space, and a crowd of hot young things getting ready. Me and mum also just out the pool and trying to get changed. A bit of a squeeze as there is little room and no cubicles. But trying to get on with it (awkwardly).

Doing my best to keep my private bits to myself while putting my undies on, and then notice the girls are taking selfies of themselves.... with me trying to get ready in the background.

Now, I’ve no issues with selfies. But I don’t want my fat ducking arse or bush on anyone’s Facebook or instagram feed (and lets be honest, most of us aren’t that dignified looking while getting changed)

WIBU to complain to the staff at the hote and ask them to put a sign saying no photos in the changing room

Ffs I’d die if my arse in a thong was online in someone’s insta photo. Taking photos is totally unacceptable in communal changing areas when others are getting undressed!

Sexnotgender · 02/02/2020 16:30

Definitely complain!!! Totally not ok to take selfies in a communal changing area.

Dylaninthemovies1 · 02/02/2020 16:41

I have complained now! Just couldn’t believe it! It’s unpleasant enough getting changed in communal changing rooms (especially one so small). I’m a fatty so it’s twice as bad lol

That's utterly inappropriate. I thought everyone knew that taking photos was a complete and utter no-no in a changing area. If there's one place people think there's an expectation of privacy, it's when you're all reluctantly starkers together!

TomeOfSomething · 02/02/2020 17:07

I'd like to know who thinks it's ok to take photos in a changing room
Fucking ridiculous

Dylaninthemovies1 · 02/02/2020 17:14

I hope that it was just thoughtlessness rather than: let everyone see the big fat woman in the background. I’m not massive though: just a bit fat (16-18)

mencken · 02/02/2020 17:16

a loud yell of 'this is a changing room! Stop taking photos, you stupid girls!' is called for.

if they really are 'hot' then the inverse ratio between beauty and intelligence is proved yet again...

Mammatino · 02/02/2020 17:20

it doesn't matter how big your bottom is... It's yours and not to be photographed without your consent. Silly silly, self obsessed children, who on earth thinks this is OK. I can't people have so little comprehension of other peoples privacy or eve existence. I think I would have had to call them on that there and then... I don't call people on anything either, I'm a mouse.

billy1966 · 02/02/2020 17:21

Totally unacceptable.

A complete invasion of your privacy.

Queenoftheashes · 02/02/2020 17:24

There are signs up in my gym changing rooms.
Clearly they’re needed! Why the fuck you’d be taking pics in a communal changing room I don’t know.

ivykaty44 · 02/02/2020 17:24

As pp said, shout really loudly stop using you’re camera in changing room, it’s rather perverted and obscene.

We have a sign up in our communal changing room and so it’s easy to point & say stop

It dives verge on creepy

Strongmummy · 02/02/2020 17:26

Of course you’re being unreasonable. Don’t tell the hotel; tell THEM!!!!

Boom45 · 02/02/2020 17:26

There are places you can't take photographs and a communal changing room is pretty much top of that list.

Strongmummy · 02/02/2020 17:27

@mencken I’m hot and intelligent. Go figure

Dylaninthemovies1 · 02/02/2020 17:28

@strongmummy. Normally I would. But I was feeling very vulnerable as I wasn’t dressed. And honestly, didn’t want a video of raging naked middle aged mum all over the internet. They were actually adults I think: somewhere between 18 and 25

I had a woman FaceTiming her husband and son from the changing rooms of Aqua Sana at Center Parcs once while women were in a state of undress all around. What irritated me is that a member of staff didn't say anything so I firmly pointed it out to the member of staff who then said something cue death stares from the woman.

I cannot believe the utter conceit of people frankly. How anyone thinks it is ok to take a selfie/film/facetime in a changing room is beyond me.

Strongmummy · 02/02/2020 17:32

@Dylaninthemovies1 bloody good point!!!

novacaneforthepain · 02/02/2020 17:38

OP your comments have me laughing so much. I would be mortified if I was there. Glad you complained!

AnotherMonthAnotherName · 02/02/2020 17:41

Completely inappropriate- YANBU.
I'm a coward so I probably wouldn't have said anything to them myself either, mind!

Dylaninthemovies1 · 02/02/2020 17:43

@novacaneforthepain. You’d really be laughing if you seen Middle Aged Naked Raging Mum!!!

I'd have told them. We had a young couple doing it in a kids soft play, while their kid was playing, we were sat at tables but behind her so also in view of camera. I was sat with my DS7 and was fuming as I could see her photo and he was clearly in the picture full face and all, behind her shoulder. I also saw her Facebook name and searched her. She had it set to public so I reported her post and told them it was a picture of my child. Her boyfriend turned around at that point and asked what the hell I was doing. So I made a point of raising my voice and asking why they were taking photos of my child and uploading them to Facebook. The manager came over and told them that there was a no camera policy and asked that they delete it and not do it. She started ranting how it was only a selfie and the place should be pleased she was promoting them. My DS then told her "Clearly you are not smart, because a selfie is a picture of yourself, not a picture of some random kid, taking pictures of random kids and posting them online is just wierd" they ended up leaving and actually nearly left without their own child they were that busy glued to their phones and arguing over their rights to take a selfie.

ForalltheSaints · 02/02/2020 19:17

100% unacceptable. Calling the police would be OK.

Lipz · 02/02/2020 19:23

Omg brainless !!! Who even does that.... I would have said it to the hotel too rather than them. I had a bad encounter with a hen's party on a flight to Amsterdam ( not naked) and they filmed me the whole flight goading me after I had asked them to stop taking pictures of me, so from now on i go straight to the top and complain.

ALongHardWinter · 02/02/2020 19:26

I'm totally gob smacked that the shop hasn't done something to stop this already! Totally unacceptable in a place where people are in a state of undress. I would say something to the shop staff, and if they don't act upon it,I would contact their head office and say that if it's not stopped,I will be reporting it to the police

Dollywilde · 02/02/2020 19:28

Safeguarding issue as well for any kids at the pool.
