in refusing to face paint a 6 week old?

I was face painting at a local fete today and a young mum asked me to paint her 6 week old baby's face . I was a bit shocked and said no straight away. i mean why on earth would she want the poor baby's face painted? Anyway he was asleep so I thought she was mad to even think of it.
I was right wasn't I?

She was so young, about 16, that I thought that she was just a bit young to know better but then her mum came over to try and get me to do it.

yes of course you was right...even i wouldnt even dream of having my 6 weeks old child face painted.

When DS was four months old and I left him in a creche at an event, I was given a short form to fill in which included 'do you give permission for face-painting' I said that I definitely did not and they said that they wouldn't do face-painting on under 3s anyway.

I really don't think it would do newborn skin any good.

YANBU painting a childs face is for their enjoyment, not for others. A baby that yong would have no idea.

I would have said no, and offered to paint the mothers instead.

MIL presented us with a christmas pudding (and matching hat like white sauce sliding down under a holly sprig...) outfit before ds1 was born, he was due 12 dec.
Urghghgh. It was returned to the shop first day of my maternity leave.
