I've got cystitis

Nitrofurotin makes me sick as a parrot but trimethoprim no longer available:(

What can I do? Loads of water? I was told last time not to drink in excess

What are your go to remedies?

No gp appointment

Go to the doctor get antibiotics this can make you feel really miserable.
Unbelievably tired too
In the meantime take paracetamol and I had to take a effervescent drink which took away the stinging.

Cranberry Juice & Cystopurin works for me.
A bath and a hot water bottle also after doing the above first ☺️

Hope you feel better soon @TheoriginalLEM. I'm just recovering from one and have got a lot of useful information from the thread so thank you everyone.

Another vote for D-Mannose in water. You can take it daily.

Used to get this all the time but found only thing to help was antibiotics once it had set in.

Avoid tea / coffee / alcohol. I was told to avoid cranberry too. And any spicy foods.

Drink loads of water. You could try the over the counter sachets but I’ve never found them a help.

I’ve managed to avoid them for a while by either showering or washing after intercourse and always using the loo afterwards too. Not very romantic but what can you do! Oh and cotton underwear.

With 20+ symptoms of UTIs, my simple dipstick NEVER showed anything. Not once. My GP and oncologist learnt to send them off to be grown in the lab....they always then came back positive for bugs which weren't detected with the simple instant dipsticks.
