Then when I say I need two months worth because of a holiday they have given two separate prescriptions.... rather than 46 tabs

Your GP isn't being unreasonable. It's the rules they have to follow or they'll get into trouble.

Your husband has a tongue in his head and, as it's his body, he should ask if he doesn't understand. I find it hard to imagine a GP not saying 'this is likely to take x number of weeks to go away' but I always check with the GP - should I carry on taking the pills if I feel better, how long should I wait before I come back if it's not clearing up. It's called being an adult. And surely it's his responsibility to complain if something has been done wrong with his body - unless this is a drip feed and he's not capable. Maybe you should accompany him next time. Why on earth would you be putting in a complaint about something affecting your husband - surely that's his choice?

But if you're concerned, ring the practice manager. That's what they're around for (amongst other things of course).

But on your prescription they are not being unprofessional - in fact they're being exactly the opposite. They're working within the rules for their profession.

Musician all you need to do is amend the quantity to 56 and sign the amendment
It really isn’t that difficult

It isnt about being difficult OP - it is about sticking to very strict rules on prescribing medication.

ilovesooty · 30/01/2020 16:31

So you're familiar with the NHS software are you?

Grumpbum123 · 30/01/2020 16:32

Count yourself lucky I get weekly prescriptions, now that is a pain in the backside

SoupDragon · 30/01/2020 16:33

How does this inconvenience you?

OhMeows · 30/01/2020 16:34

Why does it matter that it's 28x2 rather than 56?

How does this affect or inconvenience you in the slightest?

Cockw0mble · 30/01/2020 16:37

"Musician all you need to do is amend the quantity to 56 and sign the amendment

Wow, way to drip feed on your years of medical training- because surely to make sure a comment to a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL you must also be sufficiently trained?

Seriously, get a grip

MrsPMT · 30/01/2020 16:38

If its 2 lots of the same thing isn't it just one charge?

Sirzy · 30/01/2020 16:39

So you got your medicine? What’s the issue?

Surely your DH can figure the difference between a short term course of drugs like antibiotics or something with a “try thus for two weeks then come back” and something longer term? And of course if your DH has an issue with how things have been explained then it’s his place to complain

purplexylaphone · 30/01/2020 16:40

But surely he would understand if the condition he has is acute or chronic?
And it's possible the meds he needs only comes in 28 packs.

TuesdayQ · 30/01/2020 16:41

By changing the quantity it generates a new prescription - she he would have the previous 28 tablet logged on their, and the 56 tablets. The doctor would then have to immediately remove the 56 tablet prescription from him records so that he isn't accidentally prescribed 56 tablets next time instead of 28. And, as the end user, it makes no difference to your husband whether it's written as 2x28 items or 1x56 item. Your GP is following the CCG guidelines, and could be reprimanded if they failed to do so. And - once again - I don't think any of us understand what difference it makes to your husband?

TuesdayQ · 30/01/2020 16:42

Gosh, sorry... Please excuse my typos and poor grammar! Trying to multitask too much!

Sargass0 · 30/01/2020 16:47

Think the op is one of those people who go around just looking for things to moan about. Has had previous issues but couldn't be bothered to do anything (not that her complaint would be justified)

Soundbyte · 30/01/2020 16:52
Hmm
Elbels · 30/01/2020 16:54

I was given a new prescription recently, a month's worth.

I asked the doctor if I'd need a repeat, how I'd get it (hospital consultant prescribed) and then before I took the first one I read the pamphlet to understand any side effects or if there was anything I couldn't take with them. Isn't that the adult thing to do rather than relying on the doctor to tell you everything?

Musicaltheatremum · 30/01/2020 16:55

Lardilizard. As a GP who does this day in and day out your comment is laughable. I have to change then change it back and the system defaults to other settings. It takes time and mistakes are made and you end up having to re enter all the drug details. This is where mistakes are made. Please don't tell us how to do our jobs. I spend 90 minutes a day doing prescriptions. I think I know how they work!

MitziK · 30/01/2020 16:59

It's hardly the GP's fault that your husband didn't listen and was too thick to read the Patient Information Leaflet.

Shadyshadow · 30/01/2020 17:13

What issue has this caused you?

Nothing. Not one.

Your husband medication has a label and a leaflet in with detailed instructions. He, as adult is meant to read them. It includes things like wether you can drink, even how long its expected to take.

You and your husband need to grow and take responsibility for yourselves and stop moaning about things that make no difference to you.

StormTreader · 30/01/2020 17:14

You asked for double, they prescribed double in a way that makes it clear this isnt an on-going change.
You got exactly what you asked for, I'm not sure how this has inconvenienced you at all?

Being awkward would have been them saying "no".
It seems like your only complaint here is that they haven't done what you wanted in exactly the way you prefer.

For a different point of view, is there any reason you think the dr is being difficult on purpose? Have you had a falling out, or something?
Otherwise, pretty dang sure it's not to inconvenience you, personally.

Also, any script I have ever got comes without the a fact sheet that tells you all the dos and don'ts. He should have also had a chance to talk to the pharmacist who fill his script, who can answer questions and such

Mlou32 · 30/01/2020 17:29

Pathetic....

HappyHammy · 30/01/2020 17:32

What does your dh think about all this silly fuss. 2 x 28 tablets means 2 boxes of 28 tablets. Its the same as getting 56 tablets. Is your dh able to speak to his doctor himself if he is worried.

mytypeonpaper · 30/01/2020 17:39

You aren't reading any of the replies at all. And the pharmacist should tell your husband how to take them. the doctor dosent have time to go through every do and don't with every bit of medication they write a prescription for. You sound like such hard work and I'm glad I'm not your doctor
