Plus babys age?

Today was my first proper day alone by myself with 3 week old where I have had no visits from GP, HV, Midwife, yay. So far we went back to bed after sending my two year old off to childcare, I read a bit of a book for the first time in 2 years! Then been for a walk, had a coffee, home for lunch and now watching Harry Potter whilst DC2 snoozes on my tummy. Baby moon Bliss! Although I remember some really hairy days with Dc1 so am taking the good days where I can....

What have you been up to?

DD2 has decided to throw bath poop into the mix. I can now add transferring poop covered children from one bathroom to another, washing them, the bath and the bath toys and repeating bath time to my day.

a little different to all yours! my waters broke at 21 weeks so i started my mat leave extremely early to say the least 😂. I’m now 24 weeks and everything is looking positive but i am mainly on bed/couch rest. I had a hospital appointment this morning but then spent the day as usual watching Netflix and crocheting baby’s blanket for when he arrives :). Very boring but necessary to keep him cooking for much longer xxx

DD is 14 months. I go back to work in just over a week. Today is the first day in a long time that we haven't left the house. We are both full of cold and DD is struggling with a fever. DD has been doing some settling in days at nursery so I think she must have picked this bug up there ☹️ I'm hoping we both feel better soon so we can enjoy our last few days before I return to work.

@excitedforbaby9 oh gosh! Get lots and lots of rest. Hoping your LO stays cosey for much longer. He's a little eager beaver already! 🥰Could you of not got signed off rather than take your mat leave? I didn't think you could start mat leave until 11th week before baby was due?

Ds (8 months) woke at 5.30 for a feed. He was back to sleep at 6.

Dd (4) woke at 6.30 and got into bed with us, chatting incessantly until I got up at 7.30

Got us all dressed and fed and did school run.

Did a bit of housework and had the electrician round to do some work. Had next door neighbour over for coffee in the afternoon before school run.

Ds is in the super clingy stage.... cries if I put him down for even a second and will only nap on me. I generally achieve very little mist days!

Nearly 6 months here. Woke at 7, had morning tea and cuddles with baby and dog on the bed. Bit of a play, nap at 9-10. Some peach and porridge which was not well received. Bit more of a play, nap time again and then off to swimming. Came home and had to do lots of admin as buying a house. Had “dinner date” with the baby- OH is away this week. Chilled in front of the tv and then bad.

I love Mat leave and not having to go to work! Might be different when he’s napping less and moving more though!

God I can’t wait for Mat Leave! Roll on May...

excitedforbaby9 · 30/01/2020 05:07

FTM and baby is 10wo. Just starting to get a bit of a routine. Was up 3 times in the night to feed then up for the day around 9. Tummy time & play mat then quick walk into town. Fell asleep in buggy but woke up the second we get home as usual! Bouncer next but he's not a big fan. Read a picture book 'at' him as he's still a bit small for it. Nap time while I got some cleaning/laundry done. I'm also a freelance writer so manages to write a couple of pieces. Play mat and music time, tried to get him to grab things. Nap in the pram. Cuddles with Dad when he got back from work and grandparents visited and brought dinner. Watched 3 episodes of Messiah on Netflix while baby napped on me. Lots of BFing/nappies all day. Wouldn't change it for the world!

I love reading this thread - I'm always so nosy about how other people spend their time on mat leave!

We were at home yesterday morning so it was a normal cycle of feeding / playing / sleeping. DS (5 month) is teething and has a very short attention span at the moment so playing involved moving him around from place to place every couple of minutes to keep him entertained! I did a YouTube yoga video during one of his naps. We went out in the afternoon for a walk and a baby-wearing salsa class in the afternoon which was fun. DS seemed to enjoy it and slept all the way home and then stayed asleep when we got back for another hour so I watched a bit of TV and vegged out. DH was working from home so he relieved me about 5pm and I went for a swim. Came back and popped DS in his high chair while I prepared dinner and made some cookies. We had music on so I was dancing around and singing to DS at the same time. DS doesn't go to bed until around 8.30 so there was more playing in the evening and he sat in his bouncy chair chatting to us for a while as we ate dinner.

We've got some jobs to do this morning and I need to stick a couple of loads of washing on. My parents are coming round this afternoon so I might leave DS with them for a bit and go to the gym. If it's nice, they might take DS to the park to play on the swings. That's about it though.
