What’s this and how did it get to my front door?

Come home from work to find this stone thingy next to my front door. Looks like a drain cover but all of mine are metal? Does anyone know what it is? Could it be from the roof? AIBU to think it was aliens or burglars? It says Marley on it but googling Marley Covers just yields results for people covering Bob Marley songs. Hmm

Has it been windy lately? Anybody nearby having building work done?

MyAuntyBadger · 27/01/2020 18:03

Also asked my DH, he's a builder - it's a concrete roof tile so probably would have smashed if it fell off, unless it hit a bush to break it's fall or landed on grass.

Wingedharpy · 27/01/2020 18:08

@Robstersgirl and @DorotheaHam : Do you live in the same location?
Has the roof tile fairy been seen around town recently?
Or a scrap dealer with an overladen, open truck?

Wingedharpy · 27/01/2020 18:09

Amazon?

Somanysocks · 27/01/2020 18:10

How big is it?

TDL2016 · 27/01/2020 18:11

It’s a roof tile. I’d surprised that it didn’t smash if it fell off the roof.

PixieDustt · 27/01/2020 18:15

That's a Marley Wessex roof tile

PixieDustt · 27/01/2020 18:18

Also I would move it ASAP sometimes burglars place items by houses so they know which one to target etc. They did it with dogs around my area a few years back people were finding little X's on their fence and linked them both together when peoples dogs were being taken

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/01/2020 18:33

It's a roof tile, surely?

PigletJohn · 27/01/2020 18:43

if it fell off your roof and into your neighbours garden, and landed on their head, or grass, or soft soil or vegetation, it might not break and they might have put it over the wall for you.

queenjolo29 · 27/01/2020 18:46

It's obviously from an Aliens spaceship Grin

SospanFrangipan · 27/01/2020 18:48

It's a roofing tile

Fedupwithmyhouse · 27/01/2020 18:49

Is it huge or is the pic just making it look huge?

Kn0ckOnTheDoor · 27/01/2020 19:03

if it fell off your roof and into your neighbours garden, and landed on their head it might not break and they might have put it over the wall for you.

@PigletJohn im pretty sure she would have a dead neighbour on her path though surely?

DogInATent · 27/01/2020 19:22

@Kn0ckOnTheDoor
Zombie neighbour. This situation just keeps getting worse for the OP.
Ts & Ps.

riceuten · 27/01/2020 19:24

Looks like a piece of masonry

Winter2020 · 27/01/2020 19:40

if the houses in your street have the same tiles a neighbour having a roof replaced could have gifted the neighbours a spare tile?

Bluntness100 · 27/01/2020 19:44

Is it small like a roof tile? The image makes it look huge.

LawnsLT · 27/01/2020 19:45

What chesnuts said, if that fell of the roof it would surely smash?
My guess is someone’s put it there by mistake?

PerkyPomPoms · 27/01/2020 19:48

That looks massive!

Bakedbrie · 27/01/2020 20:15

It’s the back of a fireplace been dumped

NarwhalsNarwhals · 27/01/2020 20:15

Roofer DH says its a roof tile

DorotheaHam · 28/01/2020 13:33

I'm in the North West. Checked mine this morning and it's also a Marley one. Very strange. It doesn't match any roofs nearby and it's not really close to the house. It would have to fly off and over by a few metres to land where it did.

Scrap van dropping it seems more likely. Though I will move it now given the post above about marking houses!
