To ask if anyone with a B tummy managed to get rid of it?

After 3 kids, I have a saggy B tummy. I’m about 6-7 kg over weight and a lot of that is my tummy. I don’t exercise much, apart from walking to work 3 times a week (that’s 2.5 miles a day). If I join a gym and start exercising, or get a personal trainer, is it realistically possible to get a flat tummy?
Has anyone lost their B tummy ?

I have a B as does my mum.

Its just a hereditary trait (in my case at least) and I always put it down to everything being quite 'high' in my body - my boobs are too high & bra straps are always too long, when I was pregnant my bump was round my ribcage...

It's just a quirky body thing.

damnthatanxiety · 26/01/2020 22:49

Of course it is possible for some women. Look around you. There are mothers everywhere with flat tummies

Mamboitaliano · 26/01/2020 23:22

my boobs are too high

And your diamond shoes are too tight, right @GroggyLegs ? Wish mine were too high. Grin

I don't have a B tummy but a big one. And I know how to fix it - stop eat every-fucking-thing all-the-fucking-time.

Mamboitaliano · 26/01/2020 23:23

For some women is the key phrase here. I've had a 'flat' tummy post kids (not now, sadly!) and it wasn't flat it was all wrinkly and saggy and crepe papery with loose skin.

Thelnebriati · 26/01/2020 23:39

I have a tummy with a roll of flab that pokes out like a shelf over a layer of muscle from doing sit ups and I'm really disappointed.
I was hoping for loads of posts that ended 'and it had completely disappeared' Grin

Ishotmrburns · 27/01/2020 00:25

Who gives a shit if you have a pooch belly? No one!

Well obviously OP cares, as does everyone else who posted saying that they have one. That is the whole point of this thread. Learn to fucking read.

Thelnebriati · 27/01/2020 00:29

I've had to completely change the way I dress because of it.

AdultHumanFemale · 27/01/2020 00:46

It comes and goes, depending on how my weight fluctuates. Never heard the term, but really like it; sounds friendly. Currently dress to disguise it! Last summer it was flattish for a while (but papery and silvery as a previous poster mentioned), so you can definitely get rid of it by losing weight.

Hannah888 · 27/01/2020 01:28

Cryingoverspilttea Of course Op is troubled by this and is hoping to lose it. I sympathise more than you can know OP. I have an inoperative abdominal hernia. "Waist" now 56 inches. Just today a stranger asked me if I was pregnant ! It didn't offend me though because I know what it looks like. It is so difficult to find clothes to look even half decent.
Try and shift some if you can OP -it will help surely.

Mamabear12 · 27/01/2020 02:37

6-7kgs overweight will cause a big tummy. Lose the weight and your tummy will go. I’m also 6-7kgs over my pre pregnancy weight and just had my third dc 7 weeks ago. My tummy still isn’t flat (getting there!) because I have weight left to lose. My previous two, once I lost the weight I looked slim again. And I gained 23 kilos with each pregnancy!!! But prior to pregnancy I was naturally slim. Pregnancy slows my metabolism down drastically.

CodenameVillanelle · 27/01/2020 03:56

Exercise is great and very important but you can't spot reduce fat, and exercise on a specific muscle group doesn't target fat in that area so you won't lose a poochy belly through exercise.
However you can shrink your waist through core work which even if the fat stays where it is will make you look and feel slimmer. Core exercise plus fat loss will help you lose some but a lot of it is likely to be genetics so unless you get really really skinny (not advised!) you'll probably always have some belly protrusion. Try to find a way to accept yourself.

Ozgirl75 · 27/01/2020 04:02

I had this after having kids and also having two c sections as I do have a bit of an overhang over the scar. I lost it through losing weight in general (about 10kg so down to a size 8/10). However, I tend to lose weight off my face and boobs first and so i have had to accept that to not look old and haggard in the face, I have to have a bit of a tummy as that’s the last bit to go on me.

It’s a balance! I dealt with it by wearing flattering trousers and skirts and wearing my tops slightly looser and one size up.

kateandme · 27/01/2020 04:32

Boshmama im glad you wrote this.one of my best friends is a model and she says this is a common thing she comes across with the girls she works with.becasue they naturally have this tummy.it might might might get less noticable.but even when they have gotten to disordered proportions that definition is still there.
so i know its easier said than done.and i dont want to be all "love yourself please because your beautiful" no mattr how much i wish it could be true. buuuut if it wont go.would it be so bad to accept its part of you and actually ok op.

Sceptre86 · 27/01/2020 07:33

Yep I have this since the kids and 2 sections plus the weight gain. I find that exercise defini6helps the top part of the b which gets flatter if i really work out hard. The bottom part has lifted(uses to overhang) and is smaller than before but I doubt it will ever be flat unless I go for surgery. I am keen to keep up with the exercise but ultimately realise it will never be flat like it was pre kids. So yanbu

GroggyLegs · 27/01/2020 08:07

@Mamboitaliano - ha! Oh my god, you have it so wrong!
Theyre literally high up on my body - still look like two sad spaniel ears at 40+ after BF two children! Grin

It's all genetic, can't get too wound up over it as long as I'm relatively fit & healthy. It would be like crying over my eye colour.

Derlei · 27/01/2020 10:18

I had.a.c section a few years ago and gave birth vaginally in November

Mine is already improved from doing the following:

Following Keto and burning fat from my whole body

Squats and core exercises. I do 100 squats a day and follow a daily core exercise program available on an app, which takes about 13 mins to do. I do both while watching tv (I'm on mat leave).

A hot jelly firming cream that I use on my belly twice a day. It definitely has made a difference to tighten the skin, as the pooch is largely loose skin rather than fat. There are loads on Amazon, the one I have was less than £15

I also take 2 tbsp of collagen powder in my coffee daily, which improves skin tightness. Again, lots of options on Amazon

By sticking to these, I'm nearly there. I think consistency is key

Other tips I've read is to fast (eg 16:8), as fasting triggers autophagy which essentially tightens the skin. I read somewhere that somebody who fasted for a long time obviously lost lots of weight but barely had any loose skin due to the autophagy process

Tombliwho · 27/01/2020 10:27

Well check out the big brains on spilttea. Eating disorders, self esteem issues, everything basically all solved by just getting the fuck over it and getting a life!

AnuvvaMuvva · 27/01/2020 10:31

By losing 4 stone and going to the gym a LOT, I managed to change my B into a b. Above my belly button, it was the sunlit uplands: flat, toned, ab-defined loveliness. Under my bellybutton, however, it was a saggy, wrinkly, wobbly mess.

I think a tummy tuck is the only way to get a lovely tummy after c-sections.

ASundayWellSpent · 27/01/2020 10:33

The best results that I got was with mas2fit app, stopped me overeating by accident with foods that are marketed as "healthy", and the 15 min a day exercises toned me up better than any other classes I tried at the gym

Lippy1234 · 27/01/2020 10:36

I do think a lot of the top bit of a B is fat and also if your a natural apple shape.

LEELULUMPKIN · 27/01/2020 10:40

Well I am rapidly approaching my 5th decade and I have never heard of a B tummy either!

SlayB · 27/01/2020 10:49

Have you looked at MuTu ? I have Diastasis recti which is a pain in the ass.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/01/2020 13:20

I have a c section shelf (it doesn't overhang) and DR, but the former at least won't go without surgery. You wouldn't really know when I'm clothed as it looks like a slightly rounded stomach (I'm quite slender). Naked it's not so great!

I don't have a B or a b shape though. I have an allotment and dig / do squats while weeding a fair amount which I think helps.

To lose the baby weight I used the cross trainer. The allotment is a far better all-round exercise, however.

hellcarryingahandbag · 27/01/2020 14:55

What the actual fuck is a B tummy?

Bumfuzzled · 27/01/2020 15:01

Strengthening your core and improving your posture helps a fair bit. Both these things can be really affected by pregnancy. I bet it’s not as bad as you think it is though Smile
