Aibu - cat poo related!

I haven't been in my garden for a week and I've been out and there's 16 piles of cat poo in the garden! Just to qualify, our garden is only about 10 x 5 meters. There's no attempt of burrying it, just on top of the lawn. I know there's not much I can do about it but am I BU to go around to the next door neighbours and tell them? I usually go out and clear up a couple of piles every day or every couple of days as it absolutely stinks and we have kids. This has pissed me off no end!

Absolutely tell them, op. However, are you sure they belong to your neighbours cats and not others from your area? We have cats and luckily they seem to do it in our garden, but if our neighbours complained I'd go and pick it up no problem.

madamedesevigne · 26/01/2020 15:52

If it’s not buried it might be foxes rather than cats, cats usually bury their poo.

Calic0 · 26/01/2020 15:53

Some cats are quite fastidious and will bury their poo. Mine spends bloody ages in her litter tray making sure it is completely covered. Are you sure it’s cats and not foxes?

But yes, I would not have an issue if my animal was making a mess with the neighbour coming round and asking me to sort it out. Can they easily access your garden to poop scoop?

Calic0 · 26/01/2020 15:53

Cross post with @madamedesevignene there...

benandhollyagaaain · 26/01/2020 15:54

There isn't much they can do. So it will probably just cause tension in your relationship. You'd be better to Google ways to deter the cats from entering your garden in the first place.

IHaveBrilloHair · 26/01/2020 15:56

I have cats and I'd have no problem coming and clearing it up, and checking everyday.

TabbyMumz · 26/01/2020 16:17

No way would I come round and clear it up...it could be anyones cat poo.

AllergicToAMop · 26/01/2020 16:52

😂😂😂
Yeah. I thought so too... None of the local bastards do. And yes. It's cats

Op, I got granules which smell like orange blossom and it was the only thing which worked. Good luck!

JacquesHammer · 26/01/2020 16:56

If you’ve got the time, lie in wait and shoot out as soon as you see cat and make a noise. It will eventually deter them.

I lobbed stones at my metal shed for a few days, not had a problem since.

TheFuckingDogs · 26/01/2020 16:58

YOU CANT CONTROL WHERE CATS SHIT!!!
This thread comes up time and time again. It might not be the neighbours cats poo, could be foxes etc etc just one of those things you have to deal with

2020GoingForward · 26/01/2020 17:08

Not all cats bury poo - but you can't really know which cats are doing it even if it is unless you see them and then it may be others as well.

Need to clean it up - as the smell is almost cerainly encouraging more of it.

Longer term wilko-cat-dog-repellent-granules- were best value for money deterrants we found - lived somewhere we we were only ones without dog/cat or both in entire block- but of you have an out door tap - there are water scarecrows on amazon you can buy which will stop it.

Cloglover · 26/01/2020 17:37

It's definitely their cat as we have caught it mid act on several occasions. And to the person who says you can't control where cats poo, If your cat doesn't bury it's poo, should you let it roam around? People wouldn't accept that from dogs! I grew up with many cats and they all buried it unless they were poorly.

Thanks for all the tips BTW. I'll give them a go.

I’d want to know if any of my cats did this, usually when they’re not covering it’s male cats trying to ‘claim’ the territory against other males, then another Male comes along and does the same and so on and so on. I have four cats - two go out and I’ve always offered to clean up as and when my neighbours ask. If your neighbour is reasonable and not prone to being a confrontational nightmare I’d definitely go ‘round. I’d be mortified if mine did this (now somewhat apprehensive I’m going to get a knock on the door in the next few minutes 😂).

Sugarplumfairy65 · 26/01/2020 17:41

The cats who shit in my garden don't bury it, and yes, it is cat shit because I've seen them doing it. The little fuckers won't do it again once I get my new dog next week

Elieza · 26/01/2020 18:39

Super soaker water gun from Argos. Job done. Nobody injured. Cat unlikely to shit there again Grin
