Where am I supposed to get decent maternity bras and a fitting now mothercare is dead?

13+6 first pregnancy and my already ample
(30F) bosom is in need of additional support.

I don't have a bravissimo locally - and to be honest I wanted a shop that was more pregnant lady focused as I assume the advice will be better.

I know M&S are garbage for normal bra fitting so I haven't bothered with them we have a Debenhams, an Ann Summers and I think that is basically it for other places I know do fittings, and after a quick look in town at the weekend neither had maternity bras obviously for sale - I didn't think AS would but I was getting a bit 🤦‍♀️ by the end of the day.

AIBU in thinking there isn't really anywhere I can go now for a proper maternity bra fitting?

Molke is amazing and tells you how to measure yourself at home in so much detail. If you have to return your full order (if you order the wrong size) they refund the full price including postage. They have really nice funky patterns too.

I would recommend Bravissimo; I got bras fitted there when I was breastfeeding. Make the trip once so you have your size for your preferred brands and order the rest online?

beela · 22/01/2020 19:42

Mothercare were terrible for maternity and nursing bras! You aren't missing anything.

Bravissimo all the way.

CheshireDing · 22/01/2020 19:47

I went to M&S.

I know everyone complains about their fitting service but they seemed fine to me and I have been through 3 pregnancies now 🤷‍♀️

greenfrog21 · 22/01/2020 19:50

Another vote for Bravissimo - for both pregnancy and breastfeeding. Nothing else has compared, in terms of fit. I have also wasted a lot of time ordering bras online and returning them because the sizing seems different for every brand.

ElderAve · 22/01/2020 19:50

IME nothing Mothercare ever sold was "decent" and their service was terrible, which is, I imagine, why they are no more.

IMO, M&S bras are fine, good quality for the price and I refuse to believe that any woman needs an expert to tell her if her bra fits properly Grin

I am a 32GG and my cup size increased when I started breastfeeding. My breasts and nipples are so sore and sensitive that I can only wear soft, stretchy nursing bras (Amazon sell three for £18). They are pretty good as they have clips and I can attach my pumping bra from Bravado to it.

Sunshinegirl82 · 22/01/2020 20:02

Hot Milk Temptation is an absolutely brilliant nursing bra, I got mine in Bravissimo. They will definitely be your best bet if you want a physical store.

monkeysox · 22/01/2020 20:56

Royce nursing bras to start with. 34L as American sizing. Once settled got 32gg hot milk.
Order using PayPal pay after delivery and return what does not fit.
Only buy a couple as size changes

VestaTilley · 22/01/2020 21:00

Rigby and Peller; though they're expensive.

Hercwasonaroll · 22/01/2020 21:00

Marks maternity bras have been fantastic for me. However if you aren't planning ON BF Just wear your normal bras and buy different sizes if you need to. The maternity ones just unclip on the cup for feeding.

HorseyVic · 22/01/2020 21:04

Bravissimo is the best. If you can’t get to a shop you can buy online and they give excellent fitting advice. They do maternity & nursing bras and sleepwear. The other company I used for nursing bras was Royce. I am 36JJ.

Januarysucks · 22/01/2020 21:27

I tried lots of maternity bras, Mothercare M&S Mamas and papas JoJo mamen Bebe and Freya. Spent a fortune, all rubbish. Found Anita underwired nursing bras with dc2 and bought two. They were fantastic. Great shape and comfortable. I think I got mine on Amazon at reasonable price.

Yellredder · 22/01/2020 21:37

You're not missing out without Mothercare - they were useless at fitting. I got bras from Toys r Us, but they've gone as well!! Maybe try a local lingerie shop or market stall where they can fit properly and order suitable bras if they've none in.

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 22/01/2020 21:45

Always been happy with Debenhams over the years and for all my pregnancies / breastfeeding.

People rave about “boob or bust” in the “Can I breastfeed in it?” Facebook group.

Pallando · 22/01/2020 22:06

Bravissimo do free returns (and you can order a load of sizes/styles and return the ones that don't suit). I think it's a fixed £4 to 5 postage fee in the first place, but then returns and exchanges are free!

monkeysox · 22/01/2020 22:15

Try a back extender in current bras for now. They're quite cheap. From ebay?

OrangeSlices998 · 22/01/2020 22:38

You’re not missing anything with mothercare being closed they were useless for me and utterly uncomfortable bras!

AlecOrAlonzo · 22/01/2020 22:43

Molke bra. Online only.

This will be tons more comfortable when you get bigger and fab for feeding in. I never found decent feeding bras and this was a lifesaver!

catlady3 · 22/01/2020 23:05

Just got a couple of Molke bras today, they're ridiculously comfortable. The website tells you how to measure for them.

Mrsgoggingsthe3rd · 22/01/2020 23:51

You don’t need to go to a ‘maternity shop’ your boobs just get bigger not some weird pregnancy specific size and shape. Mothercare bras were shite as well.

You just need to find a shop that does measuring get your size then buy some non wired ones in that size, whatever style you fancy. You don’t need specific maternity bras. Save your money for if you nurse and need nursing bras, on that front I found Jojo Maman Babe’s range excellent.

Mrsgoggingsthe3rd · 22/01/2020 23:54

Oh yes hot milk as well, I have a couple of really nice padded flexi wire nursing bras from them, it was the only I found which gave me a decent shape and was aesthetically pleasing to boot.

dani47aaa · 12/02/2020 15:40

Have you tried here: www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/

Have used twice now and seem friendly and cheap. Also Figleaves are quite good.

debbierichardson33 · 17/02/2020 08:37
