For DS to go to nursery every other day?

DS can start the foundation unit at the primary school in January for half days once he is 4 ahead of starting full time school in September. However due to my work he can’t attend Tuesdays and Thursdays as the childminder he goes to is near my work and so too far to collect. Obviously once he is in reception he will attend everyday and will have to use breakfast and after school care 2 days a week in the local village hall.

AIBU to expect him to manage the constant changing with doing every other day? At the minute he is with the childminder Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, me on Wednesday and preschool on Friday half day so he is used to multiple carers.

He struggles with transition and so it will be difficult whatever I decide but I could possible talk to work about changing my days to be 2 together if it would make a big difference to him.

I know it’s not for another year, but I want to be prepared and need to let work know about days in the next 2 months as they plan long term.

I've changed my working days to avoid DDs having to change through the week. Sat-Mon with DH & I, Tuesday GPS, nursery We'd-Fri

I could possibly swap to work a Tuesday Wednesday but that would still split the week and I think 2 days off then going away would be worse than every other day . A Monday/Tuesday is less likely for work but I could try.

My school weren't keen on my son not being in on my days off - I asked as he started at 3 and 1 month so thought he would be to tired.

Can you find a childminder near to school to continue into next year?

Are you sure the nursery will accept those hours? The nursery attached to where I work is over subscribed and wouldn't take him. It'd have to be all mornings or all afternoons or first half/last half of the week

Yes the nursery have said they will do 3 days. I would love a childminder near the school but there just isn’t one. Hence why I chose the one I did near my work 20 miles away.
