Not liking sweet stuff very much really isn’t that weird?

I do like chocolate, biscuits, I take sugar in tea, etc, but given a choice I’ll usually go for a savoury option

If I’m out for a meal I’ll always go for a starter and a main course. If there’s a cheese board available, I’ll order it but I usually skip the pudding course as there’s never anything I fancy

I’m a member of a knitting group. We usually get together for a Christmas night out, couldn’t get us all together before Christmas so went out for a meal last night

The rest of the group decided they didn’t want starters as they wanted puddings. Fine, I ordered a main course, which was pretty huge when it came anyway so was perfectly happy. The waiter came to take the pudding orders, no cheese board so I just declined.

Lots of comments from the others so I explained the not really liking puddings thing and given their reaction anyone would think I was some kind of freak. Someone was even pushing me to ‘just order some ice cream”

I joked and said if I could order off the starter menu, I would. The waiter said lots of people say that, the kitchen was still open so go for it - so I thought fuck it, why not

Honestly, you’d think I’d had taken a shit in the middle of the dinner table because I didn’t want a bloody pudding!

Yanbu. I'm a starter over desert person too, and I don't know why it gets such a shocked reaction, or a "you're so good!" because I'd rather opt for 1000 calories worth of cheese and bread than 1000 calories of sugar.

I can't bear sweet things and have noticed it gets commented on a lot, especially at work when people bring in sweets, cakes etc.

Funnily enough its Creme Brulee that's the exception for me as well!!
