In desperately asking for help for my face?! (The whole shebbang- make-up/routine.)

I've always had lovely, clear skin. Not a spot. Not a dry patch.

Hit 35 and started getting rosacea. And acne. And greasy spots. And dry spots. And scaly spots. What the hell?!

I used to use Lancôme foundations, now they just go cakey and weird.

I exfoliate (although i have to be careful because of the rosacea.) I've tried every new sodding skin care routine.

I've tried the new 'amazing' foundation Il Makiage. Nope.

I can't go out without foundation now, I look like an 80 year old drunk. My nose is bright red and shining, and kind of scaly no matter how much I go to it.

It's making me throughly miserable. People comment on it.

HELP ME.

I need a routine and a foundation (has to be online, no access to a shop.)

I put ivermectin in amazon and it's come up with sheep drench and horse de-worker. (Op here). Confused

blackburner · 19/01/2020 14:43

Oh you can only get it through prescription here. Fuck.

blackburner · 19/01/2020 14:43

(Ponders whether it's safe to just buy the sheep dip.)

Great thread. Thanks for starting.

I have used the acid gel before and it was horrible. Really sore and made me look worse.

Now I use metro gel and simple products.

As for make up I can't help but will follow this thread to see what others recommend.

blackburner · 19/01/2020 15:07

@lamalama yes I'm sure the azelaic acid (for the acne) makes my rosacea worse! Even more annoying was that I paid almost £200 for a small tube here with a lower strength than the £6 prescription tube I got in the UK. Angry

Caroline Hirons.
That’s who you need to find and follow

blackburner · 19/01/2020 15:11

On Instagram?

Louiselouie0890 · 19/01/2020 15:13

Do you use a primer beforehand

AriadnesFilament · 19/01/2020 15:18

She’s on Instagram and Facebook and has a blog.
Go to blog, find cheat sheets, start from there for skincare in general.

Also everything’sRosie on Instagram (look on YouTube for videos with caroline Barnes and Rosie in particular - CB is a makeup artist and did videos with Rosie about routines and advice for rosacea) and talontedlex on Instagram would be WELL worth a follow for rosacea specifically.

I had this exact thing ! In my 50s! My GP has a special interest in skin problems and prescribed an anti biotic liquid which helped a lot .Also moisturisers used every day can promote spots .There is a good article online describing why we dont need to moisturise every day! Online I bought an oil free one and touch wood have not had a recurrance . Also I find crisps seem to promote oiliness as well. I use a facial scrub every evening but not mornings as well.GP said to go easily on scrubs an maybe just use a clean flannel and some pure soap .I had a horrid spot on my cheek which became very inflamed .I dont use foundation at all ,but oil free powder has been very good for me ,also there are oil free foundations on the market Amazon has good selection of both online .Good luck and take heart !

@blackburner I bought Soolantra (Ivermectin) through an online pharmacy. (I'm in the UK).

LizandFlo · 19/01/2020 17:56

Caroline Hirons cheat sheets. You will never look back

Soolantra first for at least 3 months try this before, any antibiotics Doctors are behind the times and it’s cheaper to prescribe antibiotics.
But if you don’t treat the demodex it will keep coming back. Sort your diet out ( no sugar cut down on processed food and bread possibly dairy) take probiotics.
Bebareface face wash ive just discovered has calmed mine down.
Still looking for a good moisturiser I’ve tried the usual expensive suspects but not found one that suits at the moment . I’m just using Cerave moisturising lotion. So any suggestions welcome.

blackburner · 20/01/2020 12:24

I don't eat any sugars or processed foods. We cook everything from scratch. I don't eat much dairy but will cut down on it. I'll ask my doctor about ivermectin type cream. She pretty open to new things. Although being in the states she may well just send me to a dermatologist. Last time I went to one they prescribed me a lightening cream!!! (Also have terrible melasma.)

Hitting ultra now for that line.

Not sure why I can't reply to anyone anymore. Very annoying!
