to ask how people make wax melts smell great??

So, I adore the melts made by a certain mlm company, but they're so expensive I wanted to have a try at making my own. A quick google search tells how it's super easy it is....and they really are easy to make, and they smell lovely in the blocks...but, when I put them in my warmer it's a total let down, they don't seem to have any scent throw at all.
I've really enjoyed making them (and I need a new hobby) so I dont want to give it up, but theres no point making them if they don't work.

does anyone have any tips? pretty please?

I'm using soy wax and either 'pure' fragrance oils and 'mystic moments' essential oils at a 10% oil to wax ratio.

please help before I bankrupt myself 😂

I own a candle company, and it's certainly not a quick and easy process. I've spent years testing and perfecting my craft, as well as ensuring I'm legally compliant and insured.
Feel free to drop me a message though and I'll give you some pointers.

I too own a candle company. As Iloveflumps said, it takes a lot of time and money testing various waxes and fragrance oil combinations and percentages before you have a product that you can sell.
You say that you are using soy wax (not good for the environment, the carbon footprint is shocking). Did you follow the temperature guidelnes for the particular soy wax you used, did you allow them to cure for a minimum of 2 weeks?

candyflossicecream · 17/01/2020 13:01

I only bought soy cause it was cheap on amazon, i hadn't realised it was so bad. I didn't know to cure it either, I've just made them yesterday 🙊
I'm not fussed on selling just want to have a nice smelling house on the cheap 😂
what kind of wax would you reccomend?

Why don’t you just buy from an independent company? Or Yankee candles or something? Even Asda have their own which are nice!

I get mine from the Cheshire Candle Company and they’re lush. My favourites are espresso and gingerbread together, and if the owner sees this post she’ll know who I am Grin

I do buy them at the moment but nothing is quite as strong as I'd like. I'm a hard person to please 🤣

Sugarplumfairy65 It's always nice to meet a fellow Chandler!
candyflossicecream I'd recommend joining some FB groups. There are plenty of tips and suggestions on there. Although even making for yourself, the initial costs will be quite high. TO make them properly you will need a quality wax, quality oils, thermometer, double boiler and moulds at the very minimum. Then you need to ensure the temps are correct for melting, adding oil & pouring. Also Soy wax has a long cure time and it's recommended at least 2 weeks. Storage also needs to be considered as certain items can potentially draw scent out of the wax.

thanks for your help

I get the cheap candles and then put a few drops of my favourite essential oil in the melted wax after it's been lit a minute or so.
Smells goooooooogreous!!!!!!!!!
