To feel disappointed I didn't get the pay rise/promotion

I think I am a bit. But I have basically been promoted by filling the role of a senior employee who has already left but not had the pay confirmed. I asked for what I thought was reasonable but haven't got it. I'm awaiting confirmation of another offer.

I feel a bit humiliated for asking as clearly they think I wasn't being reasonable in regards to my experience. I've just felt awkward and upset all day. My knee jerk reaction is to leave because the relationship feels different now but I know really that this job is good for me.

Please give my head a wobble and tell me to get over myself. I don't want to be over emotional and make a stupid decision.

You don’t need to get over yourself or give your head a wobble! You’ve done the right thing by asking for you what you think you deserve and you’re understandably disappointed. That’s very fair!

Do you enjoy the job? Definitely look around at other options but stick it out as you’re waiting on the other offer so it’s not over yet.

Btw, how many men (I’m assuming you’re a woman but forgive me if I’m wrong) worry about being “over emotional” when they think they’re being undervalued in the work place?

YANBU, if you job isn't giving you what you deserve you now know that they don't value you. Polish up that CV and get yourself a better gig!

They are being unreasonable!
Well if it’s like where I work, often the payrise is a % increase so only good if you’re already on a good salary.
Have you got the promotion in terms of new job title? If so, keep negotiating pay even if you don’t get exactly what you want and get eg 6 months of experience on your CV.
