To feel guilty for buying frozen vegetables instead of fresh

Just that! I have a very busy life between full time work, kids, their activities and 101 other things it seems to fit in every week! Did the weekly shop this evening, I buy healthy food for breakfast, packed lunches and evening meals with plenty of fruit & veg. One thing that takes up more time every evening is peeling and chopping veg, I also overbuy when rushing so some of it ends up in the bin. A few people have suggested for me to swap to frozen veg as this would save time and money and less waste too! They say there's more nutrients in frozen but I'm not convinced! Also what about flavour? Interested to hear what you buy!

Oh and yes to frozen fruit here too - regularly have raspberries, blackberries, cherries and pineapple in the freezer, all excellent (was amazed at the pineapple).

Frozen berries from Aldi are great. If I make my cereal to take to work the night before I put them in and they’re defrosted the next day. Man, I have an exciting life. Grin

Yes to peas, edamame, broad beans, baby carrots, fine green beans, leaf spinach, sugar snap peas, mixed chargrilled veg, herbs and potato croquettes.
I dont like frozen broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, corn on the cob, onion or large carrots and i have not tried frozen cabbage but is not appealing.
It is so much cheaper than fresh, with less waste. Yes it is in plastic but so is a lot of the fresh veg it's replacing and fresh packs are in smaller portions so more plastic waste. Plus most of the Sainburys frozen veg I buy say the bags can be returned for recycling; the film around the fresh veggies can't.

Frozen veg is great, you don't have to use it within a couple of days and I don't notice a difference with most things, except for broccoli, which I buy fresh as it always seems to turn to mush when I cook it from frozen. I like to buy frozen berries too, I put them in smoothies or have them with porridge for breakfast. Also great if you want to chuck together a quick fruit crumble. It's definitely cheaper to buy frozen. A big bag of green beans costs me about 90p but fresh a little packet is about £1

Only just sat down now to catch up with this thread! Thanks for all the replies and great ideas...@sashh I like that recipe with the veg in a jar and then nibbling it with crusty bread so that's definitely on my agenda to try! Haven't tried the frozen veg yet as finishing off the rest of the fresh stuff over the next few days before it goes off! I will update you though later in the week!

No problems nutrition wise. Environment is probably a wash, there's some plastic packaging but less chance of food waste. Big minus is for some vegetables frozen will be more expensive.

But I do think that for most vegetables, fresh tastes better. Carrots especially, fresh and cooked in the steamer is so good, frozen carrots are always mediocre.

Will use any frozen veg. I buy broccoli and cauliflower for soup but watery as a veg. Frozen carrots are great for carrot and coriander soup or casseroles. Spinach great for adding to curry’s etc. Bag of casserole veg, red lentils, stock, tin of tomatoes and herbs/spices., cooked and blitzed makes fab winter soup. I can use any type of frozen veg, it’s just a case of trial and error finding the recipes that suits them best. Use Sweet potato a lot for stews and currys. Frozen blueberries are great for breakfast. Give them a go. Peas, Green Beans, Sweetcorn, mashed carrot and swede, Roast parsnips and Potatoes and Red cabbage are fine for veg to accompany a main meal. Less waste and cheaper and you will save loads of time.
