I spend a fair bit of time on LinkedIn for work and I've decided it's bollocks.
Here's why:
- the endless, smug and almost certainly made-up stories of business influencers imparting frankly illogical amounts of largesse on imaginary lowly underlings then saying "agree?". Also abundance of said influencers who apparently used to live in a hole in a field and now run a Fortune 500 company #grateful #hardworkpaysoff
- people who list their working day hour by hour, which always starts on an exercise bike at 5am
- hilariously informal ill-judged cold approaches "Hi Changer! I just wanted to reach out to yourself (
)to offer you [service my company also supplies, only we do it at higher level]
- MLMs
- the IT managers who live 4000 miles away who send you unreciprocated "hi" "hi" "hi huni" "hi" over the course of seven months.
- the constant insincere use of everyone by the word "exciting" - "I just had such an EXCITING day of meetings", "brainstorming with my colleagues is so EXCITING", "We've got some really EXCITING news coming soon"! No one's work is that exciting.
