Evening all. I need to sort myself out diet-wise but have absolutely no willpower Confused Blatantly posting here for traffic, sorry!

I've recently started on a medication that just happens to be an appetite suppressant. This means I'm not too bothered about eating in the daytime. This makes he think that IF could work for me. If my window for eating is between 2-10 or 4-midnight, it wouldn't impact too much on participation in family meals etc.

Can anyone give me some insight on the positives / negatives? Thanks all!

Well I’ve had a tricky two days as I’ve got a cold. I get a cold every January and it tends to torpedo my good work.

However I’m not going to beat myself up too hard about this; I’m trying to lose weight so am setting myself a 1600cal/day ceiling.

Between IF and some form of exercise I’m usually short of that.

So between knowing that and being completely zen about “feeding this cold” today I’m going to either eat my last thing at 6 thus staying within the “window” or will be doing 12:12 lol

Shockers · 17/01/2020 11:18

Me again. When I said I was 11 stone now- I was on Monday when I last weighed myself.

I’ve lost 5lbs!! I’ve been really strict with myself about the smaller window of eating time, and I was really hungry the first two nights, but it hasn’t been a problem since then.

I’m cutting out refined carbs too, but still eating porridge, and loads of veg.

I’m amazed. I can’t exercise at the moment, other than basic physio moves; I wasn’t expecting such a rapid result. I can see it too!

Can somebody give me some meal ideas please.Im doing the 10-6 window for now.

IM0GEN · 17/01/2020 12:04

Do you mean LCHF meals @Dustarr73? There’s entire boards on this on MN and many website online.

But many of the people doing IF on this thread just eat their normal diet, but during a shorter time each day. For many people, that’s one of the best things about about this way of eating.

As above. The beauty of IF is that you don't have to buy or prepare anything out of the ordinary. Lack of money to spend on special meals or expensive ingredients can't be used as an excuse. You just eat what you normally eat, just less of it.

MsTSwift · 17/01/2020 16:02

Absolutely. I eat the same we always eat quite healthily ante. Just eat less, and less often and no crap snacks of biscuits crisps chocolate in the week anyway. Instead of a biscuit or cake I have a tea or coffee. No breakfast, small lunch (today poached egg cherry tomatoes one slice sourdough bread) and normal dinner - chicken in creamy sauce lots of green veg a few potatoes. It’s not “a diet” it’s eating the same.

I’ve lost two stone and no longer crave the sweet rubbish I was eating.

MsTSwift · 17/01/2020 16:17

Shockers what I found is that if I’m not snacking on sugar or carbs I don’t get hungry anyway. The weight has dropped off. I was a large 14 am now a small 12.

Dustarr73 · 17/01/2020 16:48

@MsTSwift How long did it take for you to notice the weightloss.

MsTSwift · 17/01/2020 18:40

2.5 months

MsTSwift · 17/01/2020 18:44

I was 11st 9 in Oct 8th (had health checkups that spurred me on!)

Now 10 stone
Bmi went from 27 to 22

Sofast · 19/01/2020 14:38

Well done @Shockers that's great loss!

I have found I've eaten less but only because I cant fit the snacks in in the window. I had cake for breakfast at 10 yesterday as I figured I couldnt eat breakfast and cake and lunch 😂 I did tell my self I'd relax it on a Saturday though. Still try and have breakfast at 930 but not worry again until sunday evening (tonight) when I'll try and have dinner at 5pm again ready to fast again. In fairness I only still fasted 14hrs. How much exercise is everyone doing? I've just taken up running which I'm hoping will help the weight loss

Shockers · 19/01/2020 21:56

Thank you! It’s gone to pot a bit today. I had to be up and out early, so I breakfasted at 7 and had my last meal before 6. I’ve eaten sweet stuff too, because it was a celebration.

Back on it in the morning 💪

Running will tone you up and make you feel good @Sofast. You might find you aren’t losing as much weight when you’re building muscle, but you’ll look and feel better.

Dustarr73 · 21/01/2020 12:18

I made myself a chicken traybake for the week.I have portioned it out.

Im sleeping better and have even started walking everywhere.
