AIBU to think that trees are more important to the environment than the expansion of a bottled water facility?

Harrogate Spring Water produce bottled water. They want to expand their bottling facility. Apparently they are a company who "pride themselves on their green credentials".

So - the land they want to expand onto is a small woodland that was planted with trees by schoolchildren and other groups 15 years ago. Link to news report follows in next post. AIBU to think that the company should not be allowed to cut down these trees in order to grow their plastic bottle business?

YANBU - I thought there was a drive to get people to buy less bottled water?

The land is currently owned by the same Borough Council who are in charge of granting / not granting the planning permission. If permission is granted, they will also sell the land to Harrogate Spring Water.
I imagine there is some money involved.

At least Harrogate Water is one of the companies already providing glass bottles of water...

Hard to think of a project less in tune with the times, really.

1500 trees at 15 years old, just as they're reaching an age and size that begins to have real environmental impact Sad
