I feel like I see these types of posts a lot here. Looking for any similar experiences. I appreciate this doesn't substitute advice from a doctor.

I had a 4h laparoscopy 3 months ago to treat endometriosis. During the procedure they changed my Mirena. Since then I've had ongoing pelvic pain worse than before surgery. Hospital advised me things may get worse before getting better and not to worry etc.

About two weeks ago I experienced bad pain on my left side. Couldn't walk without crying and suddenly started bleeding which is unusual for me. Spent the night shivering with a fever, but it was around Christmas time and wasn't easy to see a doctor. I waited it out and it seemed to improve, but then beginning of last week I had the exact same thing again but keep getting feverish and have barely been able to eat for a week. Saw the GP who just ordered blood tests and went to a sexual health clinic yesterday who said I'm showing signs of PID probably caused by the operation and gave/injected me with strong antibiotics. They told me I need a scan and I happen to have a routine one booked with gynae to check on things after the op on Wednesday. So they sent me home, told me to take antibiotics, and said if it doesn't improve quickly or gets worse to go straight to A&E.

Last night was shivering again but I've only been taking antibiotics for one and a half days. Left side feels like its about to explode cus there's so much pressure.

Really not sure whether to wait things out with the antibiotics or take a trip to A&E. I assume they won't be able to scan me there and they'll just tell me to carry on with the antibiotics. I have a scan booked for Wednesday anyway so I'm just sat here feeling like an awful mess. Really worried about wasting their time.

Just go.

Isadora2007 · 11/01/2020 11:32

Hmmm. I’d say it’s really 48 hours to let the antibiotics work so it could be a bit early to panic. If you can wait... keep dosed up on your painkillers (are they helping?).
BUT if you feel these symptoms are worse than before or you and worried then call 111... I think you’d get an emergency scan of the symptoms were bad enough. No one has checked for a Fallopian absence have they?
Basically- trust your gut. If it’s the same as before it’s unlikely to need A and E but if it’s worse- do get medical advice.

Emmelina · 11/01/2020 11:40

They advised you to go if it doesn’t improve quickly or gets worse, if it’s very intense (it sounds like it is) get someone to drive you in.

SeaToSki · 11/01/2020 11:40

Go to A and E. The increased pressure does not sound good.

WorraLiberty · 11/01/2020 11:43

I'd go to be honest.

Yes, they may well say the ABs haven't had time to work yet but at the same time, they'll be able to check you over and make sure it hasn't got dangerously worse in the meantime.

Seeline · 11/01/2020 11:44

I think if they started off injecting IBs and then gave tablets to continue, I would expect a quicker response to them than when just taking tablets. I would go to A&E - that is what you were told to do.

CarolinaPink · 11/01/2020 11:47

Just go to A&E now.

itsgettingweird · 11/01/2020 11:48

Go. Someone I know had this and turned out their mirina had moved.nothing could solve it other than having it taken out.

Fr0g · 11/01/2020 11:55

told me to take antibiotics, and said if it doesn't improve quickly or gets worse to go straight to A&E.

so if that is what the most recent medical professionals you saw advised, do just that.
They saw you, discussed your condition with you, gave medication and advice. you didn't post on the internet to ask whether or not to take the medication.

aroundtheworldyet · 11/01/2020 11:56

Why on earth do people ask on here.
PEOPLE- do not ask urgent medical advice from fucking strangers

Cornettoninja · 11/01/2020 11:58

You were told to go if things didn’t improve quickly (I would expect Within 24hrs To be feeling better) and you’ve actually gotten worse.

Go to A&E.

Hmmmm55 · 11/01/2020 12:01

It's more because I don't really know what "improve quickly" means and I'm so annoyed at myself that I didn't ask them to clarify. Since I've only been taking antibiotics 1.5 days I'm wondering whether to wait it out. But they did inject me with an antibiotic from the get go as well.

I'm in a moderate amount of pain but nothing I can't handle with painkillers. I never know what "bad pain" is thanks to endometriosis experiences, at least it's given me a high pain threshold that's for sure. It's the pressure and the bleeding and feverishness that's concerning me most ☹️ wondering what the hell has happened after the surgery, I haven't even had my surgery follow up yet, it's in 3 weeks.

You need checking over.

aroundtheworldyet · 11/01/2020 12:38

Not ask mumsnet Confused

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 11/01/2020 12:41

You were advised to go if you haven’t improved? Then you need to go

SchrodingersUnicorn · 11/01/2020 12:54

I had this a few months ago. GP fobbed me off. Ended up being blue lighted in with sepsis. Go!

Nat6999 · 11/01/2020 12:55

I went to A & E with endometriosis, they were useless, I got more help from the out of hours walk in clinic who actually examined me, all the A & E did was a pregnancy test & check for uti. Best thing I ever did was getting a choose & book referral to my local private hospital, i had all my consultations, scans etc there & all my laparoscopies. The NHS paid for everything & it was very efficient, the staff were lovely & caring, I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Nifflernancy · 11/01/2020 12:56

I would go Flowers
