Appointment with consultant after LLETZ/ LEEP

Hi, not really IABU I know but here for traffic. I had a LLETZ procedure after a colposcopy on 23rd December and was told I would receive a letter just informing me that I would need a smear in 6 months time.

I have a had a letter this morning telling me an appointment has been made for me on Monday with a Gynae Consultant. Is this normal? I am trying not to let my brain run away too much. If there was anything nasty would that not have shown on the colposcopy?

Does anyone have a similar experience?

It was good news as far as cancer can be. Stage 1b1 so a radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymph node removal. I opted to have my ovaries and tubes out too and start HRT as I have a history of ovarian cysts and the constultant said that treating those after the op could prove troublesome. They are not expecting me to need any further treatment and believe the op should clear it all as the tumor was only 1cm in size. So very glad I kept up with my smears. Could cry with relief. Thank you all for asking.

I'm glad that the news was as good as it could be. When will you have the surgery? WineThanks

Booked in on the 20th February so very quickly. I can't complain at the speed of everything. Lletz on the 23rd Dec, diagnosis on the 13th January and op on 20th February.

@BadTimesAtTheEIRoyale
I'm so sorry to you are dealing with this. I was diagnosed with Stage 1b1 Cervical Cancer in 2014 and had a Radical Trachelectomy and Lymph node removal. It was enough to give me the all clear and I have been fine (even managed to have a beautiful baby boy last year!)
I just wanted to make you aware of the wonderful Jo's Trust cervical cancer charity. Their website has so much information about CC and their forums are very supportive.
I wish you all the very best for the op and hope it all goes smoothly.

Sorry to hear what you've got to deal with but it sounds like they've caught it and have it in hand Flowers. It's good you have a month to prepare for the op.
I only had cin111 twice and eventually a preventative hysterectomy but they didn't muck about with that either. I was watched like a hawk and treated promptly.

@LilyBlueStripe congratulations on your baby boy! I am 46 and had long completed my family. I will check out Jo's trust the oncology nurse did mention them to me. I was so relieved when thet said it hadn't spread. I knew in my head it couldn't have but early hours thoughts raced away on occasion.

I’m so pleased it was as good as it can be.

They sound like they’ve looked after you brilliantly.

Good luck with the op xxx
