To prefer my 13 yo DD not to watch IT?

DD really wants to see this film. She’s 13, in year 9. I’m not keen, but don’t know whether I’m being too precious.

She’s watched Kickass numerous times - and last weekend watched The Joker, which is now her ‘favourite film’. I wouldn’t have wanted her to see these either, but her dad let her when she stayed with him, knowing full well I’d be unhappy with it.

She’s going to a friend’s after school tomorrow and the mother of the friend contacted me to ask if it’s OK to watch IT and I said I’d prefer them not to.

Isn't the age just a guideline, though? Just because it's a 15 doesn't mean you can't watch the movie if you're 14. Surely acting more maturely and being a parent would include making your own decisions as to what movies are appropriate for your child, rather than relying solely on the recommended age.

It isn’t scary really, but it depends on the child

I wouldn't. I'm sticking to the age on the bbfc classification. No arguments, no wiggle room.

No it isn’t just a guideline.

It's not particularly scary and on a scare par with Stranger Things.

I would allow it depending on sensitivity

Arabella well said. Completely agree.
