To hate the phrase ‘no nasties’ with an intense passion?

I see it all the time on baby food or health foods. Often people (and often mums in particular) will quote ‘oh it’s good because it’s got no nasties’. What does that even mean?!? What makes a food ‘nasty’?!

It’s just marketing bullshit. Stop falling for it ffs.

I always thought it meant no artificial sweeteners and flavourings. Probably wrong though, haven't yet had to agonist over baby food Grin wont be long now!

It means different things to different brands but I don't feel the red hot hatred that you do. You know you've still got to read the ingredients, but it's shorthand for no artificial colourings or preservatives, no added salt or sugar surely?

My favourite is when they do it on baby food jars - yes congealed banana and apricot that's sat in a shelf for god knows how long in the preservatives looks DELICIOUS and nutritious 🙄

Is it innocent smoothies that say it on the side?

I saw a good advert on facebook recently with a 'fruit protein bar' on one side and a slice of (bakery) bread and jam on the other - the toast and jam had more protein and less sugar.

I hate any packaging that tries to be jovial. Oatly cartons have a load of hipster bumpf on the side that irritates the hell out of me
