To think I am too old to ask to be tested for ADHD

First time post
I am 58 and for as long as I can remember I have had high anxiety.Missed a lot of school and been through a lot of jobs.Mainly I couldn't concentrate and was very distracted by small things. As a result I always fell behind with school and work.Would feel overwhelmed and say I felt unwell.Diagnosed with depression and anxiety given various antidepressants and CBT on 4 occasions.Helped somewhat but although I function from day to day now my concentration, distraction and talking over people as well as getting obsessed with certain subjects hobbies etc still remains.
A few people have asked if I have ADHD or similar and I have always answered no.
A family member is currently unwell and has a psychiatric nurse visit weekly. She says she has noticed things about my behaviour and asked when I was diagnosed.
I don't know what to think to be honest
Opinions welcome

Why would you be too old? Adults can have ADHD. Your difficulty will likely be that as long as you are getting by you are unlikely to be offered a formal assessment.

My son was just given an initial diagnosis of ADHD, and while the consultant was explaining the condition to me, she was actually describing me to an absolute T. My whole life just clicked right into place as she was talking...it explained so much!
Anyway, I strongly suspect that I have it, but I will never pursue a diagnosis; I'm 48, and I know myself well enough to have figured out how to work with things like distractions, procrastination and anxiety, which are some of the attributes I have identified for years before.
I think because I am coping pretty well, a GP wouldn't refer me to be tested now. I'm being treated successfully for anxiety, so there is nothing that is impacting my day to life.

Thanks for responses Smile
I am unable to go out anywhere alone.Just find it overwhelming. So that was put down as agoraphobia due to anxiety But I don't fear leaving home just don't feel safe out alone. Wouldn't describe it as a panic attack.I get the feeling that other people are too close to me even when they're not.Loud unexpected noise makes this worse.

YANBU I got diagnosed with ASD and ADHD age 38. It’s never too late to make your life easier, and it’s worth the effort as you can learn to manage what makes life difficult

Ps. It’s a big relief to get diagnosis and will be ASD your anxiety. Also, cut down on sugar and gluten, take some magnesium supplements and eat plenty of healthy fats; this helps smoother neuro transmissions and levels mood. Channel your energy into things you love. You’ll be fine xxxx

Herbalteahippie
Thank you for all the suggestions.
I'm guessing the first step is a GP appointment
