If so, what are your symptoms.
I have one apparently, and I literally feel like my stomach is full after a mouthful of food. Then I feel nauseous and have to throw up.
Is this the hernia or something else?
Also have severe acid indigestion.

I hate waking up in the middle of the night, coughing because of the acid reflux. Have to go and Have a couple of mugs of tea and sitting upright before I can go back to bed. I can't eat after 8 without repurcussions. I find that the thick gaviscon is really helpful though

I am early 50s and have no symptoms but was diagnosed last year after endoscopy and gastroscopy for very bad anaemia - have been put on Omeprazole .

For quite a few years, I had an annoying cough at night time. It would stop me from sleeping, it was so bad. I finally mentioned it to the GP and he asked if I experienced heartburn, which I did and, after an endoscopy, I was diagnosed with a Hiatus Hernia. Apparently, this meant that, when I was lying down, acid was irritating the windpipe, which then caused a reflex coughing action!

I've been on Omeprazole ever since and the cough, along with the heartburn, have gone. Never would have thought persistent coughing at night time could be a symptom.

Yes I have one diagnosed in my early twenties. If the medication you're taking isn't offering relief OP you can very likely up the dose of it ( I suspect quite a bit if this is a starting dose).

Re: the feeling of fullness and vomiting, I also have this but have delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis). Both conditions relate to a connective tissue disorder that affects my whole body and autonomic nervous system. If I were you I would ask your GP for a referral to gastro for further investigations such as a transit study, if there is a problem found there are medications such as metoclopromide or prucalopride which can help with the symptoms you are describing. No need to suffer in silence.

Hi. When this happens to me, I cut out tea first off. I also eat oat porridge for at least breakfast and lunch. This was recommended by my Dr in Holland. Oats have a calming effect and help reduce the irritation that is causing your discomfort. Banana also helps.

Don't go near peppermint or camomile tea!
