Do you think this is normal?

My friend and I both have grown up kids. She thinks it's normal for her kids to take her and their dad out for meals by way of thank yous for cHristmas hosting etc.
They buy her train tickets to visit them and often send flowers etc.
My DC don't do this as a rule. She thinks they should.
Is she BU or me?

What lifecouldBeaDream said in the first reply.

Generally, this will depend on relative wealth.

Thought as much. I've come across several similar people over the years. It has the opposite effect than that intended on me. I feel quite sorry for them because I believe if they need to boast in this manner it must be due to insecurity or a feeling of inadequacy in their own lives.

It's rather juvenile behaviour really. Can you cultivate a 'that's nice dear' pitying simper? Grin

I've always taken my parents out to dinner to treat them, when I could afford it. Why wouldn't I?
