Jadec23 · 06/01/2020 22:25

I recently found out I had miscarried at 11 weeks (happened around 6) I had no symptoms at all of this only going for an early scan and they couldn't find a heartbeat and we went back 2 weeks later for it to be confirmed miscarriage.
Now I had the surgery under GA on Friday and literally havent experienced alot 9f bleeding seems a bit like the end of a period light brown not using a sanitary towel only a panty liner. I dont know is this normal I for some reason expected alot of blood like a heavy period bit having nothing of the sort should I be worried? I'm having cramps still in my stomach but think thars down to constipation now as didnt go the toilet for 6 days now!! Sorry if too much information just worried and cant find any answers anywhere

Hi OP, I’m sorry for your loss. You might get more helpful responses on one of the pregnancy related boards, but if you’ve had surgical management, most of the tissue that would be expelled through heavy bleeding will already have been removed, so this sounds normal to me. Did the hospital give you a phone number should you have any questions or concerns? It might be worth it, if only to put your mind at rest xxx

Also, constipation is miserable, especially if it’s at the point of causing cramping! If you phone, might also be worth asking them what you can safely take to help things along. A pharmacy might also advise on over the counter stuff that could do the trick.

Hi OP, so sorry for your loss Thanks

I miscarried at 10 weeks and I didn't bleed at all. Same as you, found out at scan. Don't forget with SMM, they take everything associated with the pregnancy so there will be nowhere near as much bleeding as with a natural miscarriage. Mine was a bit stop-start after my own surgical management. Keep a pad on for a few days, it might suddenly hit. Have you got a follow up booked where they scan you and check if they got everything?

Take care at this delicate and horrible time, been there so many times WineCakeThanks

I,m due to have surgical tomorrow after natural and medical not fully worked. Going by the notes iit doesn,t sound like you necessarily bleed a lot. Not going to loo for 6 days is a worry though.

I went through this a few years ago and had a similar experience to you. I'd see your doc about the constipation though

So sorry for your loss

Sorry for your loss. I think it can be normal. When I had mine, I bled quite heavily for the first few days (like maternity pads changed every couple of hours), then it slowed to more like a normal period. I went back to work 7 days later (I travel a lot for work, so I had to take some time to stay close to home). On day 7, I had horrible cramps and heavy gushing blood and massive clots. That was the last of it. It tapered off by day 9.

I think most people have lighter bleeding than that though. But you may also find that the bleeding gets heavier as you get back to more of your normal routine before it finally stops.

Sorry for your loss.
I had the same experience 18 months ago. I had very little bleeding and it was very straightforward. So I wouldn't worry about lack of bleeding, but I would suggest a GP visit to check all is well particularly on the digestion side.

In the meantime, drink LOTS of water, plenty of fresh fruit and veg and prunes to help the constipation.

And rest assured that an early stage missed miscarriage like this is very common, and doesn't prevent future conception. I say that sitting here 40 weeks pregnant :)

I had a little for a few days and then a really heavy bleed 6 days after, so just be prepared that it may get heavier at some point

Busymummy16 · 07/01/2020 09:52

So sorry to hear of your loss xx
I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks a few years ago and I had a haemorrhage and then had the SMM as the MC was incomplete and I was bleeding a lot. The SMM was ok and there was next to no blood loss afterwards. I then had another MC and then managed to carry my 3rd child to term. Wishing you all the best. Hope you have lots of support at this sad time xxx

I had surgical management for two missed miscarriages and almost no blood loss after them, it’s normal because you lose the majority of the blood during surgery. I’ve also had a natural miscarriage and the blood loss was like a heavy period with clots. Sorry for your loss OP, go easy on yourself Flowers.!

MindyStClaire · 07/01/2020 10:15

I had very little blood loss. None at all the day after the surgery, and then it got a bit heavier but never as heavy as a period. I had the surgery on the Wednesday and was on holiday swimming with no concerns the following Tuesday.

I recently came to know about my miscarriage , very devastated and shocked. I feel bit neglected by NHS as i was having bleeding since sometime and they chose to ignore it. I was 12 weeks pregnant and the scan revealed that baby stopped growing after 8 weeks. I have decided to have Surgery but i am not sure if having it in Northwick park hospital is a safe option. Does anyone has any experience of such at Northwick park hospital
