Heavily pregnant can I just watch a film with my toddler all afternoon??

38 weeks pregnant. Knackered. We went to a tumble tots class this morning, came home did crafts, lunch and just woke from nap (both of us...😬).

Plan was to go to the park but it’s drizzling and dreary. Toddler is grumpy post nap I’m just so huge and can’t be arsed. Don’t want to pay for soft play or similar really. Can we just chill at home in front of the tv? DC goes to nursery 3 days a week which is full on I have her at at home Monday and Wednesdays.

Usually I’m a v tv avoidant parent but I’m struggling being so heavily pregnant with a two year old if I’m honest!

Yep - just do it!

Elbbob · 06/01/2020 14:35

Gosh you have already had a busy morning - get a blanket and snacks and and snuggle with toddler on the sofa!

HerRoyalFattyness · 06/01/2020 14:35

Stick the TV on.
Nothing wrong with it.
You're pregnant and need the rest!

Napqueen1234 · 06/01/2020 14:35

I love you all 💕🙌🏼

YABU for even asking this question! Of course it’s fine. You don’t need permission!

crustycrab · 06/01/2020 14:37

Even if you weren't pregnant it's ok to watch a film with a child. Screen time isn't crack cocaine! Down time and relaxation should be part of everyone's routine. Constantly doing and being on the go isn't healthy either.

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 06/01/2020 14:38

Of course! Why would you even ask?

Cryingoverspilttea · 06/01/2020 14:38

TV isnt the devil 😳

Waterandlemonjuice · 06/01/2020 14:39

Of course you can!

TheSheepofWallSt · 06/01/2020 14:39

I’m sure it isn’t the intention, but this comes across as very much a humblebrag...

stophuggingme · 06/01/2020 14:39

Is this a joke?

stophuggingme · 06/01/2020 14:40

When the second one is here you’ll be practically slamming CBeebies on trust me

BloodyCats · 06/01/2020 14:40

Go for it! I loved those last days of snuggling before the new baby comes along. Make the most of naps and lazy days together ❤️

2020BetterBeBetter · 06/01/2020 14:41

This seems an incredibly odd thing to need to ask. Hopefully just a brag.

YouJustDoYou · 06/01/2020 14:41

Your child won't be ruined forever by watching tv all afternoon. Have done it many a time when I've had novovirus/flu/food poisening and no childcare. As long as it's not Stephen King's It you'll be fine :)

OneDay10 · 06/01/2020 14:41

You Sound like a martyr. Do you fill every second of every day? You dont need permission to do what you want.
With a new baby you are going to learn fast.

Delbelleber · 06/01/2020 14:42

Did you just ask if you can watch TV in your own home?

Napqueen1234 · 06/01/2020 14:44

Sorry really not intended to be a humble brag sorry if it came across sanctimonious. It’s only that I usually only have one day a week off with DC (now we have two as dropped a day nursery to save cash while on mat leave) and normally it’s busy with tumble tots, weekly shop, meeting friends etc (I’m one of those annoying people who doesn’t sit down always on the go) so finding this enforced slowing down from being a bowling ball difficult!

TV is officially on until DH is home guilt free 🙌🏼

No, it's illegal to be not doing worthy activities with your child during every single waking hour.

If you're too idle to go to the park, you should be doing crafts or some other shit that will make a load of mess but ensure that your child doesn't turn into a thicko.

Napqueen1234 · 06/01/2020 14:46

@OneDay10 😂 usually I do fill every second (Through choice tbf I don’t guilt DH or anything!) but I do think having a newborn again will be a steep learning curve in how to slow down and let things go!

Throw a blanket and some pillows on the floor, pop down some teddies and dollies and have an indoor picnic, the watch a movie.

Why wouldn't you?

DamnShesaSexyChick · 06/01/2020 14:50

YABU to ask MN permission for something most of us do all the time

Igottastartthinkingbee · 06/01/2020 14:52

No brainer. Yes. I do this with mine but I’m not pregnant and they’re not toddlers!!!!

flirtygirl · 06/01/2020 14:54

Can't believe anyone thinks it's not okay to do this, I spent the morning in bed, batch cooked now watching a movie. It's your life, why do you need permission to have a slower afternoon. I say slower as it's not exactly possible to do nothing when in charge of a toddler.

boomboom1234 · 06/01/2020 14:58

Even without being heavily pregnant you could still do this!! Chill out! You do loads with your daughter it's fine to enjoy tv as well!
