To ask for advice on which "climate" /green charity to donate to

I want to do more for the planet, and one of the things I want to do this year is donate more to a charity/charities that might make a genuine difference! But I am not sure which one! If people have looked into this/know about this have thoughts or suggestions they would be so welcome.

I currently donate to - the woodland trust, a local wild life trust, friends of the earth and the WWF.

I can't decide whether to donate more to one of them or find a new charity to support as well? Just looking for advice and ideas really. I feel helpless watching Australia burn and feel like this is one of the (many) ways I can do my bit.

IFAW are doing a lot of work in Australia at the moment to try to save the animals that are affected by the fires

It's the climate change that's behind the severe weather I would like to help tackle, although I am glad to see that there are charities helping the people and animals in Australia too. But we will see increasingextreme weather events unless urgent action is taken to limit climate change.

The world land trust is supported by David Attenborough although the donation part of the website isn't the easiest to navigate.

We try to spread our environmental giving out but avoid charities which overlap, eg we support a charity which focuses on saving insects and bees, global action group, local action group. But it's hard to know what is the most effective isn't it.

Really hard to know! But I want to be able to look my children in the eye and say I did everything I was able too. World land trust is one I haven't heard of, thank you! I shall do some reading!

Having a look at their website now, I think that is exactly what I was looking for @urbosa , thank you.

Sustrans - the Sustainable Transport charity.

I donate to Green Peace and to Friends of the Earth. I also would like to think we've done our best for the future of the planet, it just seems so hopeless sometimes. I've grown lots of trees and living hedges, and I have wild life areas in our garden, (it's great because we have a family of hedgehogs) but our neighbours are not on the same wavelength, with their Versailles type pots and manicured lawns. Hmm

None of big organisations. Money laundering and enormous bureaucracy. Plus unsavoury practices.
Try to find something local. Like wildlife rescue or hunt saboteurs.

That's what worries me FishCanFly

@ppeatfruit I know what you mean about neighbours. Ours have covered their lawns in fake grass and paving slabs, have vast TVs everywhere and drive everywhere in huge 'his n hers' 4x4s. It makes our efforts feel so futile

I live 50% in Fr. and have tried to give up flying but the unions are not supporting my efforts ( I have to relieve dsis's caring for dm) the trains are impossible at the moment.

BUT there is some good news here anyway, the council has stopped any spraying of the verges and a lot of birds and wild flowers have returned, we have owls back too. The govt stopped spraying the nicotamides after they heard the overwhelming evidence about the negative effects on the bees. Shame that as far as I know the rest of the EU haven't done it.
