To go on an escorted/guided tour holiday age 43

I want to travel the world and see the big sights, think African safari, tour of India, the americas etc
But I have a SEVERE lack of confidence, I’ve seen guided tours where they take you everywhere but DH says they will be full of elderly people and I should wait 20 years
But I want to go now!
Has anyone been on one of these? Am I too young in my 40’s
Please don’t say it’s easy to do it yourself because it’s not for me, I won’t even go to the toilet on my own in a place I’ve never been before!

My single friend does these trips and he absolutely loves them. He says there's always a great mix of people from all walks of life aged 18-70s.

I did a guided trip with my now DH to Cuba in our early 30s. It was one of the best holidays we have ever done. We were certainly younger than everyone else but everyone was pretty fit and there was plenty of walking involved. They were all well travelled, interesting people who were interested in music, history etc. We booked it because it was a convenient way to see lots of things when we didn’t have the time to plan and book a full itinerary ourselves. However, we ended up enjoying the social experience as much as the rest of the trip.

Explore and Exodus both have an average age of over 50 this is absolutely NOT my experience. Though maybe it depends on the location and activity. Our two exodus holidays have been with groups aged about 29 to 60 with most people 30-35, just a bit too old for the gap year backpacking vibe but still looking for group “travel” experiences.

DH and I went on one in our 20s.

We were the youngest by at least 30 years and got patronised like anything by the others.

I went on one age 28. 70% oaps and the rest mixed ages. Had an amazing time
