BBC News showing distressing animal testing footage just now

Is anyone else watching BBC London News right now? They just had a segment on the ethical veganism case and how the guy who brought it revealed that his firm invested in companies involved in animal testing. They then showed some really upsetting footage of a number of rabbits wired up in a laboratory Sad It was really distressing to see and the image of those poor rabbits and their little noses twitching will stay with me for a good while. I feel it was unnecessarily upsetting for the early evening news. AIBU?

If that's all you saw then count yourself very lucky.
Imo everyone needs to know such atrocities exist even in 2020...

I feel that these things should be highlighted as its fact. Wither we agree or not or care about animal testing or not...it is fact. To gloss over it hides the truth in my opinion

I know what you mean, but while they clearly had to mention the animal testing as it was integral to the case, did they really need to show the footage as well?

They choose rabbits because they can't blink. They test products on their eyes.
I think if people just go along with it they should be exposed to the production process.

I think people ought to know, really. It's like the Blue Planet stuff- people knew about the impacts of plastic before it aired but it's easy to put it out of your mind until you see it yourself. People know animal testing happens and we need to be faced with the realities of it in order to inspire action.

It was heartbreaking to see Sad
