So have just brought a Miele washing machine from John Lewis which was delivered an hour ago!

Took out bolts, connected water, plugged in machine and tripped all the electrics! Tried two other plug sockets and its trips every time!

Called John Lewis and the adviser said soooooo do you think it's an electrical issue?

What does she think I am?? A bloody washing machine engineer!

This is the third appliance I've brought since 1st October and the second thing that doesn't work from John Lewis the first one was the dishwasher!

Seriously don't these machines get checked before being sent out? Now to top it off it's out of stock everywhere 😡

If both new machines have tripped out the consumer unit, that sounds more like a problem with your house wiring, not the machines.

Have you checked the load capacity of the circuit that powers your kitchen? When we got a new range we had to have a new power supply

BusterGonad · 02/01/2020 20:54

I think we need a bit more info op. I'm sorry but maybe it is your electrics!

Pinkflipflop85 · 02/01/2020 20:59

Sounds like your house electrics rather than the appliances.

Surplus2requirements · 02/01/2020 21:05

Unlikely to be the house electrics unless the consumer unit also trips with other electrical items.

Modern washing machines use a similar wattage as a average vacuum cleaner and far less than a kettle.

I fit kitchens and unfortunately I'd say around 50% of electrical items have to be returned due to either faults or damage.

More expensive brands don't seem to be any less likely to be faulty than more budget brands

The dishwasher didn't trip electrics it just wouldn't wash, washing machine is tripping electrics. Nothing to do with my wiring! Sorry should have said what the issue was with dishwasher.
