We're well into week two of pil's visit. 4 more days to go.
I find mil stressful as she is a 'helper' who just creates confusion and takes ages to actually DO anything. She's not nasty or anything, just annoying after a while (like 11 days).
She has also been ill with a dreadful cough and a sick bug since she's been with us.
Now she's in the kitchen, making a pudding for tonight, but I can hear her coughing and spluttering all over the place. I'm not really fancying eating the pudding.
How rude would I be not to eat it? I don't really want dc to eat it either.

Could something terrible befall the pudding before it reaches the table...?

1805 · 02/01/2020 18:34

And she's changed the radio station again which she does every time she goes in the kitchen. Little things….

and wipe down all the surfaces, including all handles, light switches etc loo flush, re-wash kitchen utensils. this how most colds etc spread.
don't eat the pudding.

why are they there so looong.

Aquamarine1029 · 02/01/2020 18:36

I wouldn't touch that pudding with a barge poll. I would feign a dodgy stomach.

Laiste · 02/01/2020 18:39

Hmmmm. Can you suddenly 'discover' that one of the ingredients was off? Y'know dive into the bin and say aaarrrgghh look at the sell by on this packaging it was 3 months ago and then rush out to the outdoor bin with it before she can protest anyone can check Grin

I feel for you. Two weeks is too long for visitors.

Its a fruit salad that she has just bought all the fruit for.

Not even the dogs can accidentally have it!

Two weeks? Wtaf?! Why??

Laiste · 02/01/2020 18:46

Oh bugger.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 02/01/2020 18:47

Just say you’re full from dinner and couldn’t eat another bite!

Laiste · 02/01/2020 18:51

How old are the kids? Are they old enough to join in on the i'm too full fib to save her feelings? If they're young and you're genuinely concerned that they don't eat it then you might have to come clean and be honest with her.

NoSauce · 02/01/2020 18:54

She doesn’t that bad in all honesty but after newly two weeks anyone living in your home that isn’t immediate family is going to bug you.

Go for a long bath with a glass of wine and definitely skip the pudding.

NoSauce · 02/01/2020 18:54

Nearly not newly

1805 · 02/01/2020 19:00

No she's not a bad person or anything, just like you said, I'm ready to have my house back now. She makes me feel like a guest in my own house because she 'helps' (takes over) with everything.
Dc are teenagers so can play along.
No idea why dh said they could come for this long.
