Morning Sicknes

Hi, please don't judge me, as I am only just turned 16 but I ended up getting pregnant and would NEVER get rid of the baby, whatever the circumstances where that got me pregnant....anyway, have morning sickness and feel really sick most of the day, but I just do not seem to be able to actually BE sick, unless I make myself cough a lot or
put a finger down my throat. Then, after being sick, I am OK for a couple of hours. Please can someone reassure me that I am not the only one who makes themselves sick to relieve this horrible feeling. My sister says I'm going to end up Bulimic. :(

You’re not alone. Nausea is torturous and so something making yourself sick feels like a relief. But it’s very, very short lived. It will also potentially damage your teeth if you’re making yourself sick regularly. Don’t brush your teeth straight away after being sick, the alkaline hitting the acid can knacker your tooth enamel. Swill some water and give it a little while before brushing.
Your best bet is to try to find things to relieve it, like grazing or nibbling in things like Rich Tea biscuits or if it’s utterly debilitating, see your midwife or GP for some anti-sickness meds, like Cyclizine.
It’s absolute shit but it does pass.
Good luck.

Sometimes* not something.

Thank you - I will try the Rich Tea Biscuits. I think I may be making myself sick too much tbh, but until I have had a good puke, I feel terrible and end up crying and shaking. I know it will pass, but at the moment, it feels like it's for ever. Sara x

Yeah, I had that. From the moment I woke in the morning until I went to sleep at night, my stomach turned over and over and over. And everything tasted funny. I have never been one for putting my finger down my throat so never did manage to throw up.

Anyway, it finished at 12 weeks, 2 days. I didn't enjoy the rest of the pregnancy but at least my stomach sat quietly.

Really feeling for you. You should not be making yourself be sick. Both you and your child need those nutrients.

Somehow, being hungry makes the nausea worse, so eating rather than throwing up is a good idea.

If you are tempted by a particular food, don’t say no because it is weird. I hunted down crunchy pickles when I was expecting. Don’t touch them now though.

Sometimes eating something dry can help, like crackers. Mine stopped around week 15 but was worse if I didnt eat before I left the house.

First of all Congrats on the baby! I am 10 weeks pregnant with my 2nd, and my hyperemesis gravidarum (basically extreme morning sickness) is back. This time I'm handling it better by not letting my boss work me to the bone "we need to get as much out of you before you go off" 🙄 and by not being shy in asking my doctor for anti-sickness. I totally understand the temporary relief having been sick gives you.

My advice would be to go and speak to your doctor, they should be able to prescribe you something like cyclazine or buccastem (goes under your top and dissolves if like me you can't keep down tablets) to help with the sickness and nausea. Don't suffer in silence especially if you are not keeping food down for you and baby - there's help out there!

Mine stopped at 13 1/2 weeks - best thing ever! It was horrific. I found salty and/or vinegary things or plain things really helped. Or ice cold drinks. The anti sickness bands really helped too but odd announce my pregnancy to several people unfortunately
Hope you feel better soon!

*top lip, not your top that would be weird Hmm

Chocolatemice · 03/01/2020 12:11

I was wondering about lifting up your shirt Crown Blush

I had the same although didn't make myself sick.

I found boiled sweets an amazing help and always had some on me.

Also ate little and often and whatever I fancied, which was lots and lots of mashed potato.

Take it easy.
