To call my DH Half a Job Bob

Because he never finishes a job, ever 🤯
For example, this morning he started to take the kitchen bin out, he took the bin lid off, pulled and tied the drawstrings, then left it like that and buggered of out. He will tidy the kitchen after dinner by loading the dishwasher but won't wipe the sides down. He'll open a letter and leave the envelope on the side (this one is partially annoying) take his socks off and then leave them on the stairs as if they will walk up them by themselves. If he changes the baby's nappy, the dirty nappy is often left by the door and that's usually as far as it gets. I regularly point these half jobs out to him and he sorts his shit out for a few weeks, but he will always slip back to his half a job ways. This is very lighthearted but please tell me that he deserves his new title?

He was a no Jon knob
This phrase really made me chuckle 😄

My DH is also a half a job Bob - he never finishes a diy job in the house or garden because he has the attention span of a gnat.
Drives me insane!

DimplesMcGee · 31/12/2019 16:52

I call mine “Arthur/Arfa” because he always does half a job.

Whostolemyhorn · 31/12/2019 16:53

There are so many of us living with this affliction! We deserve our own support group or something. PIL's are the loveliest of people (I know, I'm very lucky) but I do think this has definitely contributed to half a job DH as they more than likely. Happily finished everything off for him 🙄

My dh calls me Half Job Harry.

My cunning plan is to get him to finish the jobs for me. It works too.

Flymetothetoon · 31/12/2019 16:54

job not Jon

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 31/12/2019 16:56

Another half a job Bob here. Although when our bedroom floorboard went and he tried to fix it (one year later) he put his foot right through the kitchen ceiling so he’d have been better leaving it as half a job...

Brig93 · 31/12/2019 16:57

Im like your husband 😂😂😂.mom of two ... And honestly I never been organised, I tried to control it at least..

HoomanMoomin · 31/12/2019 17:20

Oh. I’m a half a job Bob then. I keep forgetting what I was doing and moving on to another task. Because there’s always shit load of stuff to do.

Monkeytapper · 31/12/2019 17:22

Half arsed Harry

pinkstripeycat · 31/12/2019 17:25

Mine DH little phrase is: “What NOW?!” and then never does it - evvvvvveeeeerrrrr

DH offered to put the shopping away on Friday, this involved removing the items from the bags and stacking them on the counters where they still remain. I put away anything for the fridge but tins and toiletries are still beautifully displayed, (getting in the way)

Eventrider1 · 31/12/2019 17:31

Yes, I frequently call my husband half a job (his surname). He is forever doing jobs but sometimes does a shit job of it, like washing up the inside of things but not the outside, so when we next go to use them, they are still caked in dried food 🤮 or emptying the bin but not putting a new bag in.

IfOnlyIKnewThen · 31/12/2019 17:51

So DH is not alone. His name is Half Job but I but shall be renaming him Arthur Job. His worst offences are_

  1. when he finishes a bottle that he thinks needs rinsing before recycling he just leaves it on the dining room table or in the sink.
  1. on the rare occasion that he washes towels and bedding he just dumps them on our bed once they are dry like they will fold and put themselves away.
  1. Washes dishes and stacks them ridiculously high on the drainer...apparently in my colleagues household this is known as 'Man Mountain'.

Tried the Mumsnet consensus about not enabling, so I just leave his jobs for him to complete but they remain unfinished for days until I can't take it no more Xmas Angry.

Steamfan · 31/12/2019 17:55

Mine does this as well! leaves empty packets when they should be in the recycling, t shirts waiting to be washed on the floor. Two weeks ago he left a pair of socks by the washing machine. I ignored them for a week, then binned them. And I laughed as I did it!
