When do you fit in your pelvic floor exercises?

I have a whole exercise plan to do, takes about 10mins. Over the years I've tried fitting it in in the morning (school run makes this impossible), before bed (CBA) when do you fit yours in? Making this one of my NYRs.

Also a reminder to you all to do yours too Crown Smile

@44PumpLane
I'm honestly not sure if you are ever supposed to stop. I just do them because I like to keep tight and I don't want to start peeing myself, I had a glimpse into that future earlier this year and nope, not happening for as long as I can prevent it.

Watchagotcha · 30/12/2019 21:37

I find them really hard to do so I am trying the aqua flex weights system. I aim for 20 minutes so I’m going to put them in when going for my morning shower, then take them out once I’m washed, dried, dressed, hair done, teeth brushed, make up on - which is at least 20 mins.

MorganKitten · 30/12/2019 21:39

I’ve done 100 a day since I was 12 (cover teacher told us we should) I do them at work, in bed, the bath, wherever really.

Kungfupanda67 · 30/12/2019 21:42

I do all daily things like this while brushing my teeth. I’ve got calf exercises my physio has given me, tablets to take, pelvic floors, cream to apply - all happens in the bathroom, because you never forget to brush your teeth so if you tie everything else to that you’re less likely to forget

Nelbert19 · 30/12/2019 21:43

I always do them whenever I’m sitting at a red light in the car - it’s like a Pavlovian response now!

gh621 · 30/12/2019 21:48

I’ve never really done them, not regularly anyway but this week, having an awful cough, I’ve realised I need to!
What’s the squeezy app?

AnneLovesGilbert · 30/12/2019 21:59

Brushing me teeth. Watching TV. Washing up. In the car. I started doing them years ago long before I was pregnant and haven’t ever stopped, just a mindless habit.

I do an extra lot every time the lacy incontinence knickers ad comes on.

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 30/12/2019 22:03

if I rememberWhen I'm expressing, when having sex and when I see posts like this reminding me... Also thanks @powershowerforanhour, I've just lost.

So at least 5 times a day I'm sat still and could potentially do it for an hour (I don't)

leapinglucy · 30/12/2019 22:17

I didn't realise this was so important. Thanks for the heads up!

ffswhatnext · 30/12/2019 22:33

Arent' these mentioned anymore after a vag birth?
Midwife mentioned them when I was pregnant with the first. Didn't have a clue what she was talking about.
She basically said, imagine you desperately need to go loo for a pee and poo, but you're not near a loo. That clench you've probably just done is your pelvic exercise.

Men can also benefit from them as well.

ellesbellesxxx · 30/12/2019 22:35

Midwife suggested to do them when washing hands!

piercedmyfootonaspike · 30/12/2019 23:08

The squeezy app is an nhs designed app you can download (for a small fee, can't remember how much) which has a timer to guide you through an exercise plan, it also sends you a reminder and logs your exercises. It has been recommended to me by two different women's physios and it's helpful with varying the type of exercise so not just squeeze and release but varying the speed of the squeeze between slow long squeezes or short fast ones. Pelvic floor exercises shouldn't just be "pretend you're holding in a wee" as they involve more muscles than that. I don't know if I've explained that well but if anyone's concerned it's always worth asking for a referral to a women's physio, I have found them to be extremely helpful.

If you have Twitter then follow @ gusset grippers.
She used to be on here.
She is amazing.
And personally I have her twitter notification switched on so as soon as I see her tweet I'm doing them!

I'm doing them now, I bet you can't tell...

DickDewy · 30/12/2019 23:44

Traffic lights, lifts and queues. I also stop mid wee.

Rottnest · 31/12/2019 04:43

In the shower, cleaning my teeth, settling for morning tea break, on the train, on the bus, out walking, just think and do

Rottnest · 31/12/2019 04:44

Stopping mid wee, not a good idea, not recommended

DontFundHate · 31/12/2019 06:30

Thanks ladies. I think I've found a good time to do them, im planning to do same time every day so that it should become routine.

Exercise plan is from two different women's physios after 2 babies, both advising the same things really. And the plan is very similar to the squeezy app which I have (and have reminders for but it's too easy for me to ignore that!)

I clench every time somebody irritates me, it’s become a reflex now 😂
