I have not been drunk in 2 years since DD, my DP is out with friends, my beautiful DD is down for the night and I have had a few glasses that have honestly went straight to my head.

I am dancing around my livingroom myself whispering the words so i dont wake up DD & giving her long cuddles when I check in on her.

I feel like I shpuld be embarrassed for being a bit tipsy myself, but honestly I feel great! I feel happy relieved less depressed/anxious all in the one!

I know its not really an AIBU but i wanted to share!

Xo

I often dance around the living room by myself without having had a drink - it's hardly irresponsible behaviour!

Same! And I'm nearly 6 months pg, haven't had a drop of alcohol in about 8 months Grin

OP - I hope you enjoyed your evening!

happycamper11 · 30/12/2019 05:48

Hope your head is good OP. Sounds like you had a blast. After 10 years and 2 DC, 2 glasses of wine I tend to just fall asleep (normal, rousable sleep before some people gasp). In Scotland the limit is so low that even after having a chocolate liqueur or slice of Christmas cake we'd not be fit to drive so I guess there are many of us in this country currently totally unsuitable to be handling a child Grin

mumofone2818 · 30/12/2019 08:30

No bagpipes or spiders turned up, suspicious as I live in Scotland Hmm Woke up feeling fine & no sore head so no need for paracetamol!

Got up with DD around 5 for s drink of water and back to bed.

I ALWAYS dance about like an idiot when i'm not drinking, doesn't mean I was drunk last night because I was doing it, it's a good way to let loose & DD loves when we dance about the house together Grin

I had on some pop music, indie, a bit of christmas songs & old school r&b. Then some Elvis and coldplay; i enjoy all genres of music!

Time to clean the house since we have had breakfast and get on with the day as us mums always do, thank you for your kind words Thanks

Glad you had a nice night and no spider invasion...yet. Don't let your guard down though!

churchandstate · 30/12/2019 08:38

I can’t really talk as I too regularly enjoy a few glasses of wine and am trying to cut back. But the OP says she has had “a few glasses” and then clarifies that they’re large ones, which means at least a bottle of wine. That’s too many when you’re in sole charge of a toddler, IMO. Sorry.

Jemima89 · 30/12/2019 09:25

I think it's fine now and again if they're asleep and unlikely to wake for a while. As a rule, I won't drink if the kids are coughing at night or haven't been well during the day, but most other nights I'll have a glass of wine. Sometimes I'll have a bit more.

Lionsleepstonight · 30/12/2019 09:39

The fun sponges are up early this morning.

Dipsydoodle · 30/12/2019 10:35

I genuinely would have been interested to see the responses if it has been the husband who had been drunk on his own with a toddler. There's a bit of a problematic attitude towards mothers and drinking in general, thanks to all those 'it's gin o'clock' or 'kids are stressing me, I need a wine' posts and slogans on T-shirts, cushions, prints etc. Dads don't get the same dispensation. A drunk dad in charge of kids would generally get pelters or be called irresponsible. I've seen it on here plenty of times!

Kab30 · 30/12/2019 10:41

Well done op...life goes on today lol ...will raise a glass to you while dancing to wham while 3yo sleeps tonight ....and so say all of us ...well most of us anyway lmao xxx

Cruddles · 30/12/2019 10:44

I'm concerned for the OP, alcohol is a known gateway drug for heroin. We should call social services immediately

WorraLiberty · 30/12/2019 10:49

I can't believe I actually dreamed about a double cheeseburger and chips, due to this thread last night.

Please tell me yours was as nice as the one in my dream, OP?

It was smothered in cheese and wrapped in red and silver foil. Even the chips were covered in cheese and for some reason, it came with a ready peeled orange? Confused

I’ve only ever seen mums post on here about their husband being absolutely plastered, to the point of falling over and vomiting. A woman getting tiddly on a couple of glasses of wine, having food then some water, before bed, is hardly in the same sphere. You really have lived up to your name. 🙄

Dipsydoodle · 30/12/2019 10:53

Eh, fine. I guess my attitude towards alcohol is unusual (but I think that's probably a good thing tbh). As you were!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 30/12/2019 10:56

mumofone2818 How dare you be up so early after getting so drunk last night. You should be lying in a pool of your own vomit while wondering where all the spiders have come from and trying to work out how you could hear bagpipes last night.

happycamper11 · 30/12/2019 13:24

Don't count your chickens OP, the spiders are saving themselves for tomorrow!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 30/12/2019 13:30

Glad you don't have a raging hangover @mumofone2818 Halo

@Vulpine you should be like a coiled viper at all times Wink

iklboo · 30/12/2019 13:30

Noooo by NYE the bagpipe playing spiders have all been replaced by one man band elephants in tap shoes.
