British Museum is excellent because you can do different things and it’s huge , not sure if it’s open on Sunday but the British Library has a very good permanent exhibition and usually at least one other . The Horniman is good again not sure if it’s open on a Sunday .

I would recommend the Docklands Museum at Canary Wharf . Excellent exhibition about the development of the docks over the centuries and good Second World War stuff .or the Cutty Sark ?

Ah- have just realised Hyde Park is Winter Wonderland (I was confused as to why it was busy and expensive!!). We had a lovely wander in the Kings Cross area recently with our two, by the redeveloped around the canal with nice indoor market etc.

Does anyone know if the museums do trails that will hold a teens interest? We used to love these pre teen years

Another vote for the Wellcome Collection. Not usually too busy and a great variety of interesting exhibitions

The Wellcome Collection, more or less opposite Euston Station? They have a fascinating permanent exhibition of medical curiosities and a fantastic library/reading room where you can lounge about on floor cushions, plus a nice cafe and bookshop. There's a current exhibition called 'Play Well', about games and toys in history.

It's also free to enter Smile

It's not very far away from the Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square, which is open today too.

The Design museum on High St Kensington has the Moving to Mars exhibition. My geeky friend said it was brilliant.

Most of the Design Museum is free (not the Moving to Mars exhibition though). It's a fabulous building. Used to be the Commonwealth Institue.

The top floor is great - a good history lesson for the youngsters and us more mature visitors can just wander round exclaiming "ooh, we had one of those".

Hope you've had a fun ay whatever you decided to do

Where is the secret cinema, I’m thinking of booking but will need to travel and can’t find the location, I know it’s supposed to be secret but would need to know to see if its tricky to get to.
