Does anyone know anything about collagen supplements?

More importantly If they're as good as people claim and also what brand is reliable?

I am fast approaching 30s my skin has never been particularly great and I've noticed sagging around my mouth (in the right light) around 24. Looking on a board recently I noticed someone recommending collagen supplements as they are supposed to help skin elasticity and so on.

So as above.
Are collagen supplements good and safe?
What brand do people use/recommend?

I’m 25 and currently researching too. Collagen is amazing for more than just skin so there is definite benefits to taken it. I believe powder and capsule form are pretty good way of taking- Dr. mercola does both powder and capsule form but his is from bone broth and I don’t eat meat so it isn’t suitable for me. If you want advice on it I would look on his website and search collagen.

Solgar do a collagen hylauronic acid capsule. I use solgar supplements and they’re a great brand. Personally I always avoid cheaper supplements as often they’re filled with a lot more bulking agents than needed. I’ve also never found them to be effective. Victoria Health is a good website to purchase good quality supplements from.

When I researched them, the findings were, that taking it as a supplement was useless as it is just pee'd out.

In your 30's, you should be looking to boost your collagen, naturally.

So use, hyaluronic acid and retinol. Ha of a morning and R of a night. Now is the age where you have to up your skin care and lifestyle.

I'm in my 50's and have found a home micro-needling kit also gives good results.

All of what @ponoka7 said

Yep, as Ponoka7 says. I was going to type the same.

There's a great many "supplements" that are of no use at all (apart from making 'health' shops richer) as they are not taken into the body in the form they're given.

I have researched micro needling also but there's people that claim it's really bad for your skin long term?

Reading into collagen supplements its suggested it's also good for your bones and joints not just your skin.
I am hoping to find a trusted, genuine brand and try them out myself. I really don't want to fall into the trap of a "supplement" which hardly contains the key ingredient.

Try absolute collagen:

I wasn't convinced but when I saw an older friend who I thought had Botox/facelift she said she had been taking this. I subscribed myself and I genuinely think my face looks much better. It is expensive so I paused my subscription and I noticed the difference in my skin immediately.
