Every year we have family around for a night over Christmas and play games etc. This year my cousin is home with her recently turned 4 year old - closet child in age is 9. We usually do a family quiz and heads up etc - what can I do to include the 4 year old? I can think of a few questions for her eg re:frozen etc. Is there any other games we could play, that doesn’t involve me buying anything? Someone mentioned “the ruler game” but I don’t know what that is? Any other games that everyone from a 4 year old to an 80 year old will enjoy please let me know!

Get a giant snakes and ladders. Or bowling if you've got space, with inflatable pins and ball.

Great ideas. Could you beg/borrow a copy of game on. Played it over Christmas from ages 5-75

My 75 YO DM beat boxing will stay with me for a long time.

My kids and our adults love squeak piggy squeak

Yes to chocolate game

Worddraw is a good app for generating really easy words for charades - just need a team member to whisper to the youngest what the word is.

We played Soundiculous this year and it was great fun. You have to make the noise of the object written on the card. Some are easy, like bees or cars, some medium and some difficult. Simple for all ages and hilarious.

Some card games are good for littlies - chase the ace, go fish, snap, crazy 8s, beggar my neighbour etc.

Parlour games maybe - wink murder, are you there moriarty?, 20 questions, the alphabet game - where you say I went to the beach (or wherever) and I took an apple - next person says I went to the beach and took an apple and a bat - and so on and so forth until someone forgets or you get to z. Can be done for anything - I went on holiday to (name places), I went to the football (name teams), I bought a pet (name animals) etc. Even stuff like Would you Rather entertains my 4 year old!

I just bought play that tune from tesco for £2.50, 4 kazoos and a deck of cards with tunes on, easy, medium and hard, my kids and the adults loved it.

May not be quite what you’re after but the other day we had 3 kids come round and didn’t really have any suitable games in. I printed off a few free Christmas colouring sheets from the internet and game them a packet of colouring pencils and they sat and coloured for hours! They loved it.
