He keeps getting small out breaks of spots and he’s self conscious. What are your tried and tested wisdom of ideas?

Duac from GP and cereve moisturiser and facewash are all DS 17 yo will use. His skin is really clear now but he was very down a couple of years ago with constant breakouts. Wish we had seen the GP sooner Blush

Body Shop Tea tree facial wash, toner and moisturiser.

Change flannel and pillow case daily also.

Sudocrem spread across the face at night once a week could really help too.

I think going to the GP at this stage is a bit severe. My 2 DS - 15 and 13- have breakouts and usually have some spots at any one time. Try some readily available options first before heading to the GP- this is for severe or sustained acne.

Ones we like: Biore, Tzone, Charcoal soap ( just bought this as supposed to be brilliant) and Simple (esp their matt, oil free moisturiser). My eldest is allergic to tea tree oil so we need to be careful. Good luck.

Try taking multivitamin with zinc. Sometimes lack of zinc can lead to breakouts and that is one nutrient that is found in sperm. Given his age, maybe he has ahem needs a suppliment! Anyway, worth a try, a multivitamin is cheap and can only help just make sure it has zinc. They don't always.

If it’s just a few spots every so often, would definitely recommend the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo cream - put it on whole face at night after cleansing.

Glad you're going to take him to the GP. Prescription stuff sorted out DS's spots and they never came back.

My DS11 started to get hormonal outbreaks (small blackheads and whiteheads, not large cysts) on his nose and forehead. They have really cleared up by using a face wash with salicylic acid which is less harsh than benzoyl peroxide. Brand wise, clean and clear, neutrogena, Vichy and Clinique all have suitable foaming cleansers, we use clean and clear.

natural is always best so try the lush shop

DD1 used Hibiscrub, as I had some leftover from going in for a tonsillectomy.

Cleared them up in about ten days, never to return. She has very sensitive skin, but had no problems with using it.

I’ve recently got my teenage daughter some Aldo hot cloth cleanser, exfoliate and facial cream. She’s had some spot breakouts but they’ve cleared up. I don’t really know if this skin care helped but it was fairly inexpensive and she likes using it. Before that she used to put sudocrem on her spots.

Google “Dr Sam Bunting teenage acne”. She is a fantastic dermatologist and I watch her you tube videos.
If you get the right advice early on you need not waste time and money and your son will be sorted before too long.
