To think I could do more in the evening with dc?

I like to do something most days after work/school with the dc. Donny the time I leave work and collect them it’s about 4. Besides going to the park or for a walk what else could we do? I have a few other ideas but just thought I would ask if anyone had any ideas? Just something for an hour or so before we go home to get dinner. Dc are 4 and 6...and the less money spent the better Smile

How about the library? My son loves reading so searching new books at the library is honestly the best way to spend his afternoon!

Ooooh yes!! I COMPLETELY left that off my list!! I can’t believe I missed that!! We haven’t been in ages because my DS was REALLY Loud in there when I used to bring them so I stopped!!! 🤣🤣🤣

A swim/splash at the local pool?

Whatever they want to do - be led by them.

Picnic tea in the park once weather cheers up, arts and crafts? Baking? I put my phone for half an hour in a different room and get involved in their play. Visit grandparents/local relative? Some soft play offer a cheap rate or afterschool rate that includes tea. Maybe get an annual pass for somewhere local you can go for a few hours as well,

They do a swim lesson so that is covered as such! But going swimming as a family is expensive here (€15 is cheapest!)

Board game all together? Swimming? Go for a coffee and cake?

KittenVsXmastree · 27/12/2019 19:52

Does it have to be before you get home?
Cooking biscuits/cake to eat after dinner is popular here.

Lipperfromchipper · 27/12/2019 19:55

I would ideally like to make it a stop off on the way home 2/3 times a week. I don’t like to go home and have to go back out again. I am trying to reduce outgoings so the coffee and cake idea (although lovely) could end up costing €12-15.

Feeding the ducks.

Get them to "collect" things at the park, which you can go home and do something crafty with. Thinking leaf collages, painting pebbles etc.

Branster · 27/12/2019 20:00

Any local free museums, art galleries, stately home parks with trails you could see with them?

Lipperfromchipper · 27/12/2019 20:00

@Leeds2 would you believe me if I told you there is no where nearby (or within a decent distance even) for us to feed ducks!!! Sad there’s a lake with swans but we are instructed not to feed them unfortunately Sad
